Last night there was no apology or explanation from TNT Sports as they introduced McCoist to their viewers, the seriousness of his Hate promise can be gauged by his hurried decision not to go to Ibrox on Sunday.
Judging by the excitement and expectation in his voice on Tuesday morning that decision wasn’t taken lightly, clearly something major like a threat to his multiple broadcasting deals forced his retreat.
There is no wriggle room away from:
We’ve got a hate bill, by the way. A hate bill has been passed in the country. And I can guarantee you, next Sunday at Ibrox, I, along with 48,000 will be committing a breach of that hate bill in the particular Rangers vs Celtic game we are all going to. It is madness.
Although he will now be spending quality time with his second family McCoist has quite clearly given his approval to the 48,000 who will be sharing their chants and songs of hate towards Catholics and Irish people.
And by providing McCoist with a platform last night, without an apology or explanation by extension TNT Sports are quite comfortable with the comments of their co-commentator from the previous day.
ITV and Amazon are other media firms that pay for the thoughts and opinions of the former Rangers striker, assistant manager and manager.
