Green Brigade Preparing For The Inevitable Celtic Ban

The Green Brigade have got the first jab in against a Celtic board hell bent on reinstating the ban they imposed on the ultras last season.

No more home cup games and no more home European ties this season for Celtic’s original ultras group.

Last season’s ban was instigated in the aftermath of Dermot Desmond making a rare appearance at Celtic Park and hearing thousands of fans telling him exactly where to go.

Obviously a coincidence.

The initial excuse for the ban morphed as the season went on as the club desperately searched for any excuse to pin on their sworn enemy.

The last known reason came when Brian Wilson disgracefully tried to pass the buck onto the council’s Safety Advisory Group.

After that excuse fell apart the game was up and the club were forced to allow their return and issue tens of thousands of pounds in refunds for games missed.

But lo and behold the elderly golfer is none too happy with the Celtic support again and everyone and their dog knows the first port of call when he’s in that mood.

The fact that the Green Brigade were mentioned in the now infamous deranged Saturday night statement just confirms what’s coming.

250 FANS SUSPENDED BY CELTIC WITH NO EVIDENCE

Last season’s banning of 250 supporters swept up many fans who were not members of the Green Brigade so we know the club doesn’t know who’s who.

The St Andrews’s tennis ball protest was carried out by unidentified fans and in no way did it contravene any of the conditions of a season ticket for Celtic Park.

Which means Mark Hargreaves is going to be working overtime ahead the Hearts game to come up with a coherent reason for the new ban.

Mark spent 25 years working for Police Scotland and I’m sure during that time no innocent person was ever punished for a crime they never committed.

The Green Brigade statement highlighted the ongoing harassment they are currently experiencing from the club.

Collusion with Mark Hargreaves (former) employer Police Scotland,  vendettas against representatives and unworkable restrictions on tifos amounts to what they call the “strangling the standing section”.

That is the reality of the situation three years on from the fan survey when almost half of all current season ticket holders asked to support Celtic in a standing section.

Not only have the club completely ignored those views but they are actively trying to kill off the small standing section we already have.

Withdrawal from the Home Cup Ticket Scheme is sure to be a topic of discussion for the Celtic Fans Collective now.

It’s an issue that has come up time and time again over the past year, a severe measure that sends a clear message to the club hierarchy on top of the Not Another Penny campaign.

The campaign for change is clearly ramping up a notch and everything has to be on the table now.

A PLC PIN THEIR ‘STRATEGY’ ON HUMAN SHIELD MARTIN O’NEILL

The club were handed a get of jail free card in the summer when Martin O’Neill inspired the team to an unlikely league title last season.

But they changed nothing.

Another poor transfer window, another temporary manager, another failure to qualify for the Champions League.

And now the attacks on fans have returned along with ridiculous threats of indefinite bans from the stadium.

It looks like it going to be another rough season for supporters but the fight to make Celtic as good as it can be must go on

Incidentally it’s worth encouraging any fans attending the home game against Hearts to adhere to the Not Another Penny campaign.

If your hungry before the game there are some cracking food vans on Janefield Street, the Home Of Cheeseburgers.
