The Daily Record has stepped up, or stooped lower in their attempts to trash Celtic and Wilfried Nancy.
The new manager suffered a defeat in his first match in charge. That result alongside a 3-0 win for Danny Rohl’s side on Saturday night put some festive cheer in the air at the fast fading Glasgow publisher.
Across social media the new Celtic boss has been slaughtered.
The usual sources have been revelling in a Celtic defeat, adding to their glee Nancy was using a magnetic tactics board to get his message over during the Hearts match.
It wasn’t a great look, especially when the new manager was comparing notes with Gavin Strachan and Kwame Ampadu in the dug out.
NANCY UNDER FIRE
Celtic fans are concerned. More so since the driving force behind Nancy’s appointment was sleeping through the match. Captured by Sky Sports, dozy Paul Tisdale went viral on social media.
Supporters were concerned about a change of tactics. Switching to three at the back, all left footed and expecting to get width in the side from Yang Hyun-jun and Sebastaian Tournekti.
Three years ago Ange Postecoglou could switch between James Forrest and Liel Abada on the right. On the other flank the Aussie boss was getting the best out of Jota and Daizen Maeda.
Michael Nicholson’s ‘managed’ decline isn’t difficult to identify.
There are strong reasons for concern but no Celtic fan is fooled by the tag team of Ryan Stevenson and Keith Jackson in the Daily Record.
Chat GPT could easily predict most of the content produced from that meeting of minds. Stevenson decided to throw in Nancy wearing green trainers to his attack on the Celtic boss.
As one reply to the Record tweet put it ‘a guy with face tattoos criticising the choice of trainers’. Time to take stock unless you are in a desperate race to the bottom of the barrel.
Icon? Really, Stevenson?

RECORD ATTACK DOGS
Ironically, at the weekend, the Record was the media partner that Celtic chose to demonise their fans.
In a poor, misplaced smear attack a Celtic spokesman revealed the horror and fear created by posters being placed near houses and schools.
People in and around Glasgow will be familiar with the posters. They feature images of Celtic directors with a red diagonal line imposed across their faces.
Paddy Stewart and Kev Thelwell experienced far worse inside Ibrox at a recent Europa League match.
The posters highlight a point. One backed by over 400 Celtic fan groups through the Collective.
Since the formation of the Collective Celtic have gone into an incredible tailspin. Highlighting the feeble leadership of Michael Nicholson.
CELTIC MELTDOWN
There are too many incidents to note them all but having previously barely commented on anything the hoops are in danger of becoming FC Statement.
Based on 80 fans leaving the stadium to visit the concourse the club has issued three Supporter Updates (Celtic code for a statement) and imposed an indefinite ban on the Green Brigade.
This all culminated in the 2025 AGM. Adjourned for 30 minutes after just five minutes with Chairman Lawwell in a flap. Not surprising when the clock is ticking towards a Q and A with CEO Nicholson.
An event that was even more incendiary thanks to a warm up speech from Ross Desmond.
It was all too much for the Chairman. After shouting BEHAVE he abandoned the AGM with Desmond Mini in mid-flow.
Since then things have got worse, much worse.
When you are running to the Record to bleat about your message you really have to question whether the message is worth defending.
That’s a disgraceful article, launching personal attack on a man who has been here for 4 days, to dig up a washed out footballer and print this is absolutely shameful.
