Last Friday, May 1, Celtic finally found the courage to ask for money from the supporters they have been berating, banning and blaming all season long.
There is an uneasy ceasefire in place at the moment as fans put aside the glaringly obvious need for wholesale change at the top of the club to try and salvage some silverware from this season.
And with that in place the club have sneaked out the most uninspiring renewal campaign ever seen.
Paradise On Your Mind – an advertising campaign to remind you that you always renew your season ticket.
Just like we always go to work, to the barbers, to the cafe – just renew, because you always do.
There is no sales pitch here, no ambition, no highlights reel to hook you in.
To be honest there is no advertising agency on earth that could convince us fans that Michael Nicholson and the current board harbour any ambition for the first team.
After all this has been the season when it finally blew up in all their faces.
CELTIC- THE EXECUTIVES WITH NO SHAME
Michael Nicholson, Ross Desmond and Mark Hargreaves are nowhere to be seen, haven’t been heard from for months.
The architects of the attacks on supporters are conveniently missing now that the club have to come cap in hand and ask for some cash from the very fans they have demonstrated nothing but contempt for all season.
New manager, new Director of Football, new CEO, new recruitment team, first team squad overhaul?
Not a peep.
Just renew your season ticket because you always do.
Last year it was very different as Brendan Rodgers headed up the renewal campaign.
On the back of another league title and our best showing in the Champions League for years, Rodgers offered a vision.
He asked us to join him to “embark on the next chapter in Celtic’s illustrious history.
“Looking ahead to next season, with key, quality players returning to the club at the peak of their careers, we’re building for the future.
“They are joining other experienced and highly talented players who know how to win, led by our fantastic captain Callum McGregor.
“The core of the squad is strong and we aim to make more, exciting new additions to ensure we are the strongest we can be. We are in a solid position going into next season, and everyone at the club is excited for the future.”
MARK LAWWELL, PAUL TISDALE, WILFRIED NANCY
Step forward Paul Tisdale, anointed by Dermot Desmond, to blow that optimism out of the water and see off Rodgers and John Kennedy by October.
Wilfired Nancy was appointed to implement the Paul Tisdale football vision and the game was finally up.
Martin O’Neill and his coaching team has worked wonders to maintain the title challenge and reach the Scottish Cup Final.
But there was nothing stopping the powers that be from working furiously behind the scenes to implement a new vision for the club while the first team done their thing.
All they had to do in the renewal campaign was hint that at least some work was being done to rebuild the club infrastructure, find the new manager, implement the structure he will need, recruit the players.
Nothing, nada, not a word save for Brian Wilson telling us he has been meeting again with imaginary supporters groups nobody can find.
The renewal campaign confirms what most fans have been saying all season – the current board and executives are incapable of providing a vision for the club.

Do the board not realise fans now see Europe as our benchmark not some old dead club who passed in 2012.
They say we can’t compete in Europe so the lower the standard of what they offer.
