Celtic fan media turns emphatically against the club

Celtic fan media is starting to reflect the anger and frustrations of the support ahead of the new season.

Some might claim that they are leading and providing a focal point for unrest but a dispassionate view would suggest that the leading fan outlets have been slow at being critical.

There are a variety of reasons for that, over the last four seasons the club has reluctantly got on board with fan media in terms of websites and podcasts but it seems that the novelty is wearing off.

Ange Postecoglou sat down with an enthusiastic and engaged group from fan media soon after arriving but with the sudden exit of Dom McKay attitudes soon changed.

Getting an invite every six or seven weeks to ask one question at a media conference while Celtic provide legacy media outlets like the Daily Record and The Sun with exclusive access to a couple of players every week demonstrates the clubs opinion on fan media- a box ticking exercise like a Fan Forum and employing an SLO.

The reality of yet another chaotic transfer window of failing to take advantage from a position of strength has worn down the tolerance of many supporters.

Last autumn Celtic fans thought that they were onto something, as well as dominating at home Brendan Rodgers had fashioned an effective team for the Champions League. No other conclusion can be taken from a haul of four points away to Atalanta and at home to RB Leipzig.

That ought to have provided a platform to kick on, instead it accelerated complacency as highlighted by the decision to sell Kyogo Furuhashi with no attempt made at finding his replacement.

Away to Aston Villa, Daniel Cummings made his one and only Celtic appearance, level on aggregate away to Bayern Munich Rodgers only trusted two players to come off the bench to influence the match.

The summer transfer window was the opportunity to show that lessons have been learned, instead it has confirmed that the virus of complacency has set in deep across the club.

Running in tandem with what appears to be a managed decline is the clock ticking down on Rodgers’ contract.

After four transfer windows battling to get the club to act efficiently it seems that the Irishman has virtually given up, seeing out his final season hoping that his own self pride can deliver another SPFL Premiership title.

Initially Rodgers spoke of replacing Nicolas Kuhn, a week later it was Kuhn and Kyogo, after beating Newcastle United he then added Matt O’Riley to the mix.

After being hammered by Ajax Rodgers questioned the ambition of the club- the reply was leaking news of three failed bids for Jakob Breum alongside plans to bring a Manchester City teenager on loan. Someone with 95 minutes of EPL football on his CV.

There are still plenty of complacent fans and websites laughing off the ‘panty wetters’ convinced that all will turn out fine with their ambition no higher than finishing a few points ahead of their O** F*** partners.

As supporters witnessed during the 20/21 season once something implodes it is very difficult to reverse the process.

Celtic’s troubles started in 2023 with the signings of Odin Thiago Holm, Marco Tilio, Maik Nawrocki, Yang Hyun-jun, Kwon Hyeok-kyu, Gus Lagerbielke and Luis Palma. Chosen messengers and influencers won’t mention those signings, instead they pain targets on Adam Idah, Auston Trusty and Arne Engels who played key roles in last season’s Champions League success, generating £50m to the Balance Sheet.

Rodgers has delayed the inevitable but his fire fighting capacity isn’t limitless.

If August turns out as many are predicting the board might find things getting very uncomfortable inside Celtic Park with those entitled customers inside rather than on the outside watching streams of empty stadiums.

It’s like a fire sale , a fire sale with the clubs future prospects in the equation. Brendan will leave we will get knocked out the champions league and then sell Maeda, rumours idah and Carter vickers are for the off you couldn’t make this stuff up , whatever transpires I think most fans will be disgusted at how the board have run the club the last few weeks

This board doesn’t seem to learn from past mistakes.
A club of Celtics stature should not be in this position.
      Fan’s deserve better .
A penny pinching lot who seem to be incapable of function regarding transfer activity.

We need to protest inside and outside the stadium on Sunday, there’s no point in waiting until we’re knocked out of the champions league or have a couple of bad results, by then it will be too late, the parasites that are the board need to be told in no uncertain terms that we the fans the people that part with their hard earned cash have had enough of them holding us back whilst hoarding millions for a rainy day. The time is Sunday, flag day, let’s show them that we want change.

Same old BS from the neanderthal so called support. We have an extremely well run club and players, and the thick elements forget the investment in keeping the great players here. They wave there stupid flags ( yes they Celtic does not belong to them ) cause disgust, fines and embarrassing constant. So called ” green brigade ” would run a Mile if a firework went off. Time the very, VERY, cast majority of true Celtic support got rid of the scum that hides within us.

Sounds like you’d be more comfortable supporting another club in the city, where they indulge in blind faith and obedience to whoever wears the brogues.

Got to agree that there is scum hiding among the Celtic support, one example above.

I remember Michael Nicholson joking 3 and a half years ago, that his head was up his a*** after travelling to Japan and only spending 3 nights there, rapidly putting the final touches to the Hatate, Maeda, and the other boy who got injured at Alloa.

Ange said “jump and they all said “how high”. Now it’s back to same old depressing managed decline. We all know the main protagonist in this. No pointing any elbows.
