Five reasons why supporters won’t go near Celtic Connect

In midweek, under the guise of fan engagement, Brian Wilson announced Celtic Connect.

Apparently it will be a way for the club to connect with supporters with a two way exchange of ideas.

The club will listen and do nothing while claiming to have created a vehicle to improve communications and trust. On the back of a season where the last shreds of trust between fans and the boardroom crashed and burned.

Since the turn of the year former Labour MP has taken on the task of patronising supporters.

He has called for unity, admitted to mistakes which haven’t been identified and promised a golden future.

At the end of April Wilson promised a boardroom refresh.

He is now into his eighth month as Interim Chairman. Longer than some recent manager’s and CEO’s have lasted.

CELTIC DISCONNECTED

No new Directors have been appointed. Those that have masterminded the unmanaged decline since beating YB Bern in January 2025 remain calling the shots, or answering to one Non Executive Director.

The CEO, Chairman and Board Members that engineered the resignation of Brendan Rodgers. That allowed Dermot Desmond to use the club website for his personal anger. The directors that allowed the Green Brigade to be suspended for five months.

The board that permitted a media pile on after Celtic won the SPFL title in May are given special access to almost all club events.

And Wilson thinks that fans will forgive all that. That they want to connect with Wilson, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay. In return for tea and biscuits, a selfie with the CEO and reminded that they are ‘a right good Celtic fan’. Not one of those new fangled entitled types.

NO CONTACT OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT WITH CELTIC SUPPORTERS LIMITED

On June 9 CSL sent their 64 page Celtic Paradox to the club. A well thought out document siting clubs in similar situations and how they are performing far better than Celtic repeatedly.

Some clubs might pay £500,000 or more for a similar document, created by business consultants.

The Celtic board haven’t acknowledged that they have received the document. They’ve had almost two months to look at it, to arrange a meeting with a group of shareholders.

Instead they have spent their time on creating the pointless Celtic Connect. Ignoring CSL and their well structured points.

WILSON BREAKS PROMISE TO CELTIC FANS COLLECTIVE

Wilson met with the Collective on February 18 and promised a follow up meeting within a month. They haven’t heard from the Chairman since then.

The February meeting was a waste of time. It was put back a week to allow Celtic executives to attend. Nicholson and McKay failed to turn up.

Wilson did what a seasoned politician would do. He nodded, smiled and doodled. He was so bored during the meeting that he doodled on his notepaper.

The ‘interim’ Chairman did admit that he had no power to make any decisions at the meeting.

Wilson didn’t know why fan media had been banned. He was in the dark about Nicholson’s October promise of a Fan Advisory Board. Possibly the CEO thought it was a clever answer at the time. Clearly the ‘interim’ Chairman didn’t know about it.

NICHOLSON ACCUSES FANS OF EMPLOYEE ASSAULTS

In his last public interview, the second in his time as CEO, Michael Nicholson shared his exciting plans for recruitment under Wilfried Nancy. The outstanding candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers.

Nicholson also detailed three assaults that took place on club employees following the League Cup Final three days earlier.

There has been no follow up on this. Either the incident didn’t happen or the club is unable to provide security for employees.

All of the main media outlets in Scotland ran with the claim. Another chance to put the boot in on the Celtic support a few months after 250 fans had their Season Tickets suspended.

MEDIA LIES ABOUT HEARTS PLAYERS GETTING ASSAULTED

Led by Pat Nevin on BBC 5 Live the myth that Hearts players were assaulted at the SPFL title decider on May 16 went unchallenged.

BBC Scotland were quickly onto the story with no evidence. As were Celtic’s media partners at the Daily Record, Sun and Herald.

If any player had been assaulted Sky Sports News would have replayed it on a loop for a week.

Jim White and Simon Jordan were soon onto the non-story on TalkSPORT. And so it went on. White got his mate Tony Bloom to spread the lie live on air.

Celtic’s friends at the Daily Record got five days content out of the missing minutes and player assaults.

It got so bad that the SFA reluctantly released the match audio. And still Celtic said nothing as their media partners returned to criticise the most blatant penalty of the season, Sam Nicholson’s matchday 37 handball.

CELTIC STAFF AND FANS ATTACKED AT IBROX- NOT A PEEP OF COMPLAINT

Following Celtic’s Scottish Cup penalty shoot-out win at Ibrox in March it all kicked off. With most of the kicking aimed at Celtic players and staff.

Armed Ibrox fans arrived on the pitch with poles, masked and specially adapted gloves.

A flair was launched from the pitch into the Broomloan Road Stand filled with Celtic fans. Read that again. A flare fired from the pitch into the Celtic support.

One member of the Celtic staff was attacked on the pitch by a middle aged fan that had made his way onto the pitch from the Enclosure.

Tomas Cvancara was interviewed by Premier Sports with spots of blood on his shirt.

And Celtic did nothing. As ever they sat back allowing their media friends to frame it as an other O** F*** shame game. The sickening tag that has held Celtic back since at least 2012.

NO WAY BACK FOR THE OLD GUARD

And Wilson thinks that a kiddy-on assembly to represent real fans will solve the issues that surround the club. He seems to have learned nothing from the way that the Scottish electorate repeatedly rejects his New Labour chums.

There is no way back for Nicholson and Wilson. They can delay the inevitable. But they can’t even hold an AGM. Their CEO hides from club media, he admits that he can’t deal with football agents!

Communication and engagement aren’t the issues at Celtic. The problem is the policy and messages delivered by placement that allow one NED to dictate all club policy.

When their crimes are listed like that it’s hard to believe that they’re still there.

That list isn’t even all the #hit they’ve done, when you consider their transfers activities since Ange left, their treatment of BR x 2…again, WhyTF are they still in their positions?

You’re every day unrelenting doggedness is admirable.

I hope the Celtic Collective get answers for these nonsense excuses we get from the board, a board that must know it’s time for change @CelticPark

    Thanks & Hail! Hail!

The board hate us supporters so much , with us winning the league it just feels like all it’s done is give them some breathing space , and yet again it looks like it’s gonna be Russian roulette to see if we qualify for the CL !! Absolute sabotage for the last 3-4 years , beat it the lot of them
