Twenty-four hours after the 0-0 draw with Kairat Almaty there still appears to be little sign of urgency to Celtic’s transfer business.
Brendan Rodgers has used a variety of phrases to express his frustrations over the lack of investment in the team while Michael Nicholson continues to hide from scrutiny.
It is a bleak stand off with the team on the park and supporters in the stands on the receiving end.
Those frustrations were obvious during the latter stages of the draw with Kairat followed by a wave of anger across social media.
Often in situations like that a club would be sparked into some token action, leaking news of transfer activity to a favoured source knowing that it will quickly go viral.
At 6.35pm tonight Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports News revived the Jakob Breum story, he had barely tweeted the news when it was being played down by Stephen McGowan, the most reliable source of Celtic news, in The Herald.
Go Ahead Eagles are set to hold firm on their £6million valuation of Celtic target Jakob Breum.
And the price tag for the Danish under-21 international is likely to increase if the Parkhead club reach the group stage of the Champions League in Kazakhstan next week.
Wednesday’s goalless draw with Kairat Almaty left hopes of advancing from the play-off round in the balance.
Chants of ‘Sack The Board’ rang out the stadium as supporters voiced their frustration over a lack of quality signings.
One report claims Celtic have ramped up their pursuit of the playmaker by holding fresh talks with Go Ahead chiefs over an agreement.
We understand that is NOT the case and that the last contact between the two parties was last month.
UPDATE: Celtic are ramping up their pursuit of Go Ahead Eagles attacking midfielder Jakob Breum.@SkySportsNews understands fresh talks have been held today for the Denmark U21 international, who can also play on both wings.

When you return to negotiations at this stage in the transfer window the chances are that the selling price is going to be increased, Go Ahead are under no pressure to sell with Celtic’s need increasingly obvious. Clearly there is little in the way of alternative targets.
McGowan’s piece does conclude with an update on Michel-Ange Balikwisha which notes that there are obstacles at the players end to concluding the deal which will come as no surprise to anyone with an interest in how Celtic deal with transfer activity.
With 10 days left until the window closes Celtic are no closer to strengthening their squad than on June 27 when they announced the signing of Ben Nygren.
That suggested a joined-up approach to transfer activity after the panic mode applied last summer when Adam Idah joined on August 14 followed by Arne Engels, Luke McCowan and Auston Trusty on August 30.
With a Champions League Play Off to be negotiated it was expected that Nygren would be joined by others but the team-sheet against Kairat demonstrated that little has changed, the deal for the Swede was the exception rather than the new norm.
All along it has become clear that Rodgers’ ambitions for the club are very different, to such an extent that there is no point in asking the manager about extending his contract.
The summer transfer window was the final opportunity for the club to illustrate that they have a modern, flexible approach to recruitment. Seven weeks on from selling Kuhn no replacement has been signed, a progressive club would have had the successor signed up ahead of banking the £17m cheque from Como.
Rodgers will host another media conference on Friday to preview Saturday’s match against Livingston, it seems likely to be another episode of frustration management with new phrases used to avoid direct criticism of his employers, just like in every media conference so far this season.

Is there any point in buying players now.
