When you have a limited budget and go bleating to the media it is a good idea to spend your funds wisely. Isn’t it Mister Clement?
When Cyriel Dessers is your main/only striker it would be wise to swallow your pride and sign Lawrence Shankland rather than indulge in a vanity loan deal for Fabio Silva.
With the budget limited by Micky Beale’s flops, in January his successor decided to lump his whole budget on Mohamed Diomanse, initially on loan with a commitment to pay £4.5m at the end of the season.
Meanwhile there has been no takers willing to match the wages due to the duds signed during 2022 and 2023. Clement will have to get a tune out of Ben Davies, Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Mayondo, Dessers, Sam Lammers, Nicky Raskin, Todd Cantwell, Kieran Dowell and Danilo.
Jumping in head first Clement agreed a loan deal for Oscar Cortes which comes with an obligation to buy next summer for £4.5m. The Colombian has next to nothing on his CV to date.
Jefte from Cyprus was snapped up as they say, followed by AC Milan starlet Clinton Nisala.
Following that Connor Barron and Liam Kelly were signed in order to fulfil UEFA criteria, with fans screaming for a striker A Proper Football Manager turned to Moroco and the understated talents of Hamza Igamane, fresh from scoring 13 goals in 39 matches over the last two seasons for FAR Rabat!
It is a distinctly underwhelming scoring record but virtually nothing has been seen of the 22-year-old since his transfer was announced for a fee reported to be around £2m.
He wasn’t getting to know his new team-mates in Holland last week, training clips out of Murray Park in the last week have been as rare as steel deliveries to Ibrox.
Today’s glamour friendly against Manchester United would have given the loyal bears the chance to assess Igamane for themselves but last night Clement had bad news for them on Rangers TV with The Sun reporting:
For Hamza [Igamane] It is a massive change of culture, the life here, the way of training, the way of working, and the language also so we have an interpreter here to translate for him.
He is behind the others for the moment, and we are working with him individually to make him stronger before we put him in the collective training.
There are a variety of rumours suggesting that Igamane has suffered a long term injury, so far there has been no denial from the club, a video clip from training would put that claim to bed.
It would take a brave or foolish punter betting on the new Moroccan ace scoring at Ibrox with Clement as his manager.

I don’t want to moan, I really don’t… but why spend such an amount on a guy who in any really for this level (Igamane) when we have immediate requirements for CL? We need the exact opposite, someone who is ready for night now? It’s a little bit bizarre.

Sums up Rangers twitter to a T. Someone posts a joke/sarky comment that Igamane is out for 4 months and within a couple of hours it’s been treated as gospel. 🙄

There are multiple rumours circulating about why we haven’t see Hamza Igamane in any Rangers training videos yet. Can @RangersReview55 please ask the question and provide an update on today’s morning briefing?
