Michael Nicholson brings his pre-season to a disastrous end!

The pre-season is now officially over, next week the Celtic first team squad will be preparing for the opening weekend of the new SPFL campaign. Designed by CEO Michael Nicholson.

Camilo Duran is the only new player signed and even he didn’t get the full pre season training with his new team mates.

Last season the board admitted to failings and promised that lessons would be learned.

We were promised a “big summer” by Brian Wilson who pledged to have the team in the “strongest possible position” for the new season.

All of that rhetoric is now shown to be either bare faced lies or aspirations the current board and executive are simply incapable of delivering.

Nicholson has one again presided over a financially profitable summer that has resulted in the first team squad being weakened ever further.

Last season he sold off Nicholas Kuhn and supplied Brendan Rodgers with inferior players the manager had already refused which led to his inevitable exit in mid season.

No such attempt has been made this summer to pad out the first team squad. Not even a Hayato Inamura or Shin Yamada.

No matter who might still be signed before then transfer window closes, the pre season is now over and with it goes the chance for new players to get embedded with the squad.

NICHOLSON- A VERY WELL PAID EMPTY SUIT

It is clear now that exactly nothing has changed at Celtic.

The boards determination to hoard cash at the expense of the quality of the first team squad is completely entrenched.

And the utter contempt they have for us fans is still very much evident. Led by Nicholson. Taking out £17,000 a week and afraid to speak to Celtic TV

Once again the club has chosen to communicate with fans only in order to ask for more cash for strips, subscriptions or tickets for friendlies.

The major difference between this summer and last year is nobody at Celtic can credibly site any excuse for their inactivity – thanks to the actions of the Celtic fans last season.

All of the failings we pointed out last season have now been repeated and no excuse is going to wash this time around.

Promising to learn the lessons is a one time excuse that the board has used it up.

As demoralising as it is for fans right now, we did at least achieve some things last season when the Fans Collective was established.

We warned them about how they are running the club, the hoarding of cash and the lack of ambition.

All of it is there on record along with the boards empty promises of implementing change.

CELTIC SET FOR A RE-RUN OF LAST SEASON’S TURMOIL

The fans have also learned that all of the goodwill we demonstrated last year has been thrown back in our faces.

The fans asked for meetings and offered a path forward using constructive dialogue.

At all times it was stressed that we wanted to work with the club, not against it.

And when it suited the club, during the run in to the end of the season, they briefly halted their attacks on us.

The Green Brigade had their bans lifted and the general mood in the stands was lifted as fans came together to push for a memorable title win.

But all that goodwill and acknowledgement of the fans role in inspiring the team has been trashed by another summer of penny pinching on player recruitment and non stop demands for more of the fans cash.

The battle lines between the board and the fans have now been clearly drawn.

They will not make the slightest change to the utterly amateurish way they run the club and we fans exist only to milked of cash, not to be listened to.

Any contrary statements or promises made by the board should be treated with the utter contempt they deserve.
