Martin Dowden – You Hid it Well.
No hiding place as Celtic expose the truth.
Martin Dowden sits in the press box at Celtic Park, he closes the Follow Follow tab and gets to work.
Celtic win 3-1 on Saturday. They close the gap at the top. Hearts drop points. The title race tilts. A good day’s work.
Read Dowden’s report. Read the specific, calculated architecture of a man who has already decided what the story is before the whistle blows.
Celtic are merely getting over the line without ‘champion-esque form’.
Motherwell are painted as swashbuckling heroes cruelly undone by a cruel world.
Dowden actively mourns that their outside chance of a title ‘seems to have gone’. They sit fourth. Grow up.

DOWDEN- REPORTING FROM THE MESSAGE BOARD FRONT LINE
The defining moment of the match — Emmanuel Longelo wraps both arms around Daizen Maeda at the back post and hauls him to the turf.
Textbook Denial of a Goal Scoring Opportunity under IFAB law. Mandatory red card. Mandatory penalty.
John Beaton, visibly sickened, has to be dragged to the monitor by Kevin Clancy in the VAR lodge to apply the Laws of the Game he is paid to know.
Beaton was redder than he’d been all afternoon, Celtic do that to him.
John Beaton isn’t good enough to be incompetent at refereeing. That is what Brendan Rodgers called him two years ago. He couldn’t say something more direct and telling.
The least controversial thing about Beaton is his continual dubious decision making.
How does BBC Sport Scotland’s Senior Reporter frame it?
Motherwell ‘may well argue about the penalty award’. Argue with whom. Gravity. The laws of association football.
Dowden watched it with his own eyes. He knows precisely what it was. He builds in the qualification deliberately — not because he has doubt but because his job is not truth. His job is audience management.
Then the live blog. A carefully curated sewage pipe broadcast proudly under the BBC banner.
Scottish VAR is a joke. Worst red card you will ever see. Only Celtic get these decisions. Factually incorrect conspiracy dressed as public comment and amplified by the state broadcaster.
BBC Hun pundit (don’t laugh) is not convinced Celtic should have been given a penalty… I’m in shock😮 @BBCScotlandNews pic.twitter.com/CQ7BTH85rx

And another ‘angle’ from BBC Scotland
ACCOUNTABILITY? DON’T MENTION IT
Here is what makes this more than bias. Dowden has no X account.
BBC Sport Scotland’s Senior Reporter — covering the most controversial refereeing environment in British football — is invisible on the platform where those controversies are argued in real time.
No X means no accountability, no ratio. No one able to reply in thirty seconds with the IFAB reference and the time-stamp. Sterile LinkedIn is more his scene.
The work files to BBC. BBC syndicates to Yahoo, AOL, global wire services. The ‘controversial penalty’ framing travels to audiences in Columbus Ohio and Sydney who have no context to question it.
The institutional record says what Dowden wants it to say and the audience most likely to challenge it never sees it.
This is not journalism. This is a brief — filed under a respected banner, laundered through international syndication, invisible to the people it most affects.
I formally complained to the BBC on Saturday. Section 3 Accuracy. Section 4 Impartiality. Specific timestamps. IFAB law cited. The John Beaton Crown Bar Loyal Bellshill banner referenced as corroborating context.
They will file it. They will not act.
Dowden is seen for the first time. Not as a serious person. That is why he is so at home with the state broadcaster.
