‘In good faith’ Shameless Celtic board use Martin O’Neill for cover

Thursday night’s match against Stuttgart was an entirely predictable Celtic experience – beaten on the pitch, silent in the stands.

Commentators couldn’t help but notice how the famous “European atmosphere” at Celtic Park has entirely evaporated.

It has taken head security guard Mark Hargreaves just seven months to completely obliterate the one advantage Celtic held over every club we faced in Europe – home ground atmosphere.

Chris Sutton described it rather well.

All the advantages of the twelfth man wiped out by an ex cop with a grudge.

The latest stage of Hargreaves’ plan to turn Celtic Park into soulless, sterile detention zone was on show on Thursday – Police Scotland patrolling the front of the Directors Box.

TURNING CELTIC PARK INTO A FORTRESS

Can’t be letting any of that pesky anti-establishment rabble who buy tickets get too close to the important people plundering the club of millions of pounds every season.

It’s amazing the power you can get at Celtic if you played conkers with Michael Nicholson at school.

The Stuttgart match was held up briefly by fans throwing balls onto the pitch to highlight the disastrous running of the club and the shameful treatment of the fans.

The protest prompted interim chairman Brian Wilson to issue a statement last night.

The former New Labour politician was keen to stress his “good faith” when he met recently with various fan groups.

When a man who has served in a Tony Blair government and Dermot Desmond’s sham Celtic board has to stress he acts in good faith, the warning signs are clear.

“Surely the priority must be to give Martin and our players every opportunity to achieve their objectives within the remainder of the season,” Wilson said.

Six weeks on from his initial call for unity, the interim chairman is no further forward which begs the question – what is the point of a completely powerless chairman?

CORPORATE FREE LOADERS

Other than £80,000 per year into the bank account of the former socialist.

And this, in addition to a silent CEO who can’t tie his laces without permission from a retired golfer.

The only people who have shown any willingness to get behind Martin O’Neill and the players are the fans. Wilson & Co. have delivered exactly nothing.

It is entirely the boards fault that we are currently third in the league off the back of poor transfer windows and appointing the worst manager in the club’s history.

They did all of that, despite being warned by fans in October that they were heading for disaster.

The ban on the Green Brigade remains in place, and the feeling of disillusionment among fans in the stadium is palpable.

Before the Stuttgart game O’Neill was briefed before his press conference that “some progress” had been made in the recent meetings.

You won’t find many fans believing progress was made or that Chairman Wilson was acting in good faith.

The latest episode of the excellent Four Tims and a Podcast is well worth a listen to hear a fan’s reaction to a recent meeting with Wilson.

The interim Chairman talks big and delivers absolutely nothing.

CEO Nicholson says nothing and delivers even less.

Calls for unity and backing for the team are utterly pointless unless the people with the power to deliver that unity take some action.
