Anthony Joseph is having a nightmare Transfer Window

Anthony Joseph is having almost as bad a transfer window as Michael Nicholson.

While the Celtic CEO hides in a cupboard with his phone switched off the Sky Sports reporter is out there is the firing line. And having a bit of a mare.

Celtic fans are now halfway through a third transfer window with their club looking for a recognised striker.

A competent club would have had a striker in place for January 1. Now, almost four matches into the window there is still no sign of a striker coming in.

JOSEPH HAVING A NIGHTMARE

There is pressure on reporters to come up with content at this time of year. Supporters are constantly searching for first news.

On Thursday night Joseph linked Celtic with Callum Wilson. He didn’t go too strongly on it but he did publish his claim.

Martin O’Neill shot it down today with a dose of reality.

Next up and Joseph has on for Joel Piroe from Leeds, apparently talks had been held. That story was killed off even quicker than the Wilson claim!

And there was more, earlier. The night before.

The Wilson claim seems to have originated from a throwaway line from Chris Sutton.

The former England striker has the sort of profile that would seem to be a good fit for O’Neill.

But, and the biggest but of all is that Wilson has spent almost a decade on EPL terms and conditions.

Surely someone somewhere at Celtic could make contact with Wilson’s agent to see if he would be interested in moving to Celtic.

If a player isn’t interested a transfer won’t happen. It doesn’t get past base point.

It would require an incredible set of circumstances to interest Wilson in Celtic. The Saudi Pro League is his likely next destination.

In other times Celtic have a reasonably attractive package to offer players. The likelihood of winning things, some glory and possible Champions League football.

Celtic in January 2026 is a very different story. The club is in meltdown. No guarantees can be offered for this season or next.

Joel Piroe

There are easily a dozen reasons why Piroe won’t be moving to Celtic.

Lets just leave it at the Leeds Chairman Para Marathe also being vice-Chairman at Ibrox. Leeds aren’t going to do business with Celtic at any level.

On a similar theme Brighton won’t be allowing Evan Ferguson to go out on loan to threaten the SPFL title challenge of Hearts.

Hopefully Joseph takes the weekend away from the Celtic transfer circuit. Surely he isn’t about to tweet about Celtic’s interest in a certain Irish forward playing for Brighton
