After two seasons under Postecoglou there were some barren spells last season for Kyogo but that was almost entirely down to the lack of service from a much changed Celtic side.
Jota was sold in the close season, Liel Abada and Reo Hatate were injured early in the campaign which drastically reduced the supply lines to Kyogo.
The striker did score in the Champions League matches at home to Atletico Madrid and Lazio, domestically he settled the issue in the first two Glasgow Derbies, a fixture that he dominated through 2023.
To the surprise, and relief of the Celtic support Kyogo was left out of the Japan squad for the Asian Cup in January, at the end of that month Celtic brought in Adam Idah as back up and competition to their often lone striker.
In the final couple of months of the season Kyogo looked back to his best, scoring and playing with a smile as he picked up the sixth and seventh medals of his Celtic career.
During the summer a few reports surfaced claiming that Urawa Red Diamonds were interested in taking the striker to the J-League.
Now that he is on the books of CAA Base it would be naive to think that his name isn’t being mentioned to some serious European clubs.
