Disappointed Tavernier publishes his 23/24 highlights reel on Insta!

Four weeks after picking up a Scottish Cup losers medal at Hampden James Tavernier has decided to share a 23/24 highlights reel on Instagram!

It was another season of failure for the Ibrox captain as he watched Celtic lift the two major trophies of the season despite leading his team-mates on a lap of honour on April 7 following a moral victory.

There has virtually been complete silence on social media from Phil Clement’s squad after they lost the Scottish Cup Final but it seems that the club captain has been hard at work putting together his highlights for the season.

Included is a very rare clip of winning a tackle against Daizen Maeda at Hampden- if anything sums up the losers mentality it is the inclusion of that moment as a highlight.

During the winter months there was the usual hype around the former Wigan utility man, apparently he became the highest scoring defender in British football history which was celebrated by all sections of the Scottish media as if it had some sort of relevance.

Across the city Alistair Johnston collected his fifth winners medal in 17 months before heading off to play for Canada at the Copa America.

Tavernier has watched Celtic win five trebles in his nine seasons at Ibrox and hasn’t had a sniff of recognition from England or anywhere else outside of Ibrox.

Tavernier’s 23/24 highlights reel probably outdoes the Shushburger Instagram post from Todd Cantwell in the lead up to the Scottish Cup Final. Celebrating a goal scored in a draw on the day Celtic lifted the SPFL trophy isn’t what is expected by loyal bears.

TikTok has resisted sharing his holiday exploits on social media but it seems that his captain was unable to resist reliving and sharing his ‘achievements’.

Some fans were probably hoping for a farewell compilation but outside of the Sports Desk of the Daily Record no-one else is bothering with the Al Ettifaq rumours.

During the final months of the season even Ibrox fans began to see through their fabled skipper with his performance against Celtic on April 7 a complete masterclass on his limitations.

Just the presence of Daizen Maeda panicked Tav into a bizarre assist after 21 seconds that helped to end the England hopes of Jack Butland.

On top of wanting the captaincy removed many bears were calling for the former Carlisle United loanee to be removed from the team due to a basic lack of defensive ability.

About the only consolation from the season just ended was when Tav avoided saying disappointed in his post Scottish Cup Final interview, aware of the compilation of previous interviews he settled for being devastated.

Never change James, never change.
