Liel Abada is closing in on a move to join Charlotte FC with Football Insider reporting that personal terms have been agreed with the winger.
The 22-year-old has been left out of the Celtic squad for the last four matches to clear his mind with a transfer widely expected.
Football Insider run constant steams of speculative transfer stories, with the MLS transfer window open until April 2 there are a limited amount of options open to Abada who is hoping to be involved in Israel’s European Championship play off match against Iceland on March 21.
After returning from an injury on December 30 the winger made seven appearances for Celtic bit looked badly out of sorts in the match away to Hibs when he appeared as a substitute.
Following that appearance he was left out of the squad that beat St Mirren in the Scottish Cup with Brendan Rodgers discussing the awkwardness of the situation.
Around 3pm Football Insider reported:
Celtic winger Liel Abada has reached a full agreement to join MLS side Charlotte FC in a permanent deal, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old is set to leave Parkhead imminently after becoming unsettled in Scotland.
He has agreed terms with the US-based Charlotte FC and the move will be completed soon after Celtic accepted what is believed to be an offer well in excess of £8million.
That level of fee would be a major surprise due to the unique circumstances of Abada’s situation.
Clubs in the MLS aren’t known for shelling out much in the way of transfer fees, specialising in younger talents available on cut price fees or older signings looking for a different environment to wind down their careers.
Former Aston Villa boss Dean Smith took charge of Charlotte in December 2023 with Scott Arfield a regular in the side last season, this season they have started the MLS season with a home win over New York City and a draw away to Vancouver Whitecaps.
