Celtic fans seem more curious than excited by the news that Yang Hyun-Jun appears to be closing in on a move from Gangwon.
It seems that speaking out against his club, offering to throw his salary on top of a transfer fee has brought Gangwon round to the idea that they’d be better off accepting a transfer fee that dealing with an unsettled player. Down the years players have used a variety of ways to push through transfer interest.
In January Celtic signed Oh Hyeon-gyu who was on the fringes of the international squad, missing out on a World Cup place when Son Hueng-min declared himself fir despite his cheekbone issue.
Yung picked up two u-23 caps last year which is the only sign of international recognition.
Gangwon are currently 11th in the K-League with 13 points from 20 matches, Yang has played in 19 matches, contributing one goal and one assist
With a fee of 2.5m euros the Gangwon winger isn’t really in the budget/project category but so far there has been very little to worry about with Celtic’s Korean signings although this is the first post-Postecoglou signing from that region.

Gangwon FC have ‘stood down’ from their stance of keeping Yang Hyun-Jun at the club until winter.
It’s understood that the chances of Yang leaving the club this summer has now increased.

Many fans criticized Gangwon after he gave an interview that he wanted to go to Celtic. I understand that the transfer negotiations have resumed because of that.
