Ewan Otoo is closing in on a deal to join Dunfermline Athletic.
The defender was sent on loan to East End Park in February, coming off the bench after 32 minutes for his debut in a dramatic 4-3 win away to Airdrie.
Otoo went on to make 11 appearances as the Pars returned to the Championship at the first attempt with James McPake impressed by the young defender.
During the Lockdown season Otoo had a crash course of 15 matches in six weeks on loan at Clyde, returning to play in the Lowland League for Celtic B didn’t provide the platform to really progress.
The Courier reports:
Dunfermline are set to secure the return of Celtic loan star Ewan Otoo on a permanent deal.
Otoo played an important role in the Pars’ run to the League One title after joining on loan from the Hoops in February.
The defender made 11 appearances as James McPake’s side sealed their return to the Championship.
And Otoo is now set to join them there after Dunfermline and Celtic agreed terms for his transfer. Courier Sport understands the deal should be confirmed early next week.
Otoo highlights the issues facing Celtic in developing Academy players through into first team contenders.
Finding the right club to go out on loan to is a complex matter, getting exposure to the demands of the professional game at an early age.
With uncertainty over the Lowland League and the value that it provides there are likely to be other departures from Celtic with Dylan Corr along the road from Otoo at Raith Rovers.
