The attendance figure that Celtic refuse to release (24,120)

More than a day after the match Celtic are refusing to release the attendance figure for their Scottish Cup tie against Dundee.

In a pre-recorded interview at the 2025 Celtic AGM Michael Nicholson promised greater engagement and communication with supporters, anti-establishment and otherwise.

True, the club recently released a new app with the same dull, predictable content as their other media outlets.

Subscribers to Celtic TV are still waiting for the promised revamp- unless two interviews with the damp squib of a CEO was the revamp.

Releasing an attendance is a time served football tradition.

Generally available midway through the second half, released to the media to pass on.

CELTIC ON THE RETREAT

Such is the fear inside Celtic that they are afraid to release the figure of 24.120 that attended the Dundee Scottish Cup tie.

They key there is attended. Many more tickets were sold, fans on the Home Cup Ticket Scheme were obliged in advance to buy their ticket.

On Wednesday morning the Celtic Fans Collective invited supporters to boycott the match.

The panic was so deep that Brian Wilson was wheeled out for Celtic TV!

Under cross examination from Gerry ‘don’t call me Paxman’ McCulloch he splurted out a story about his Wednesday evening discussion with four ‘young lads’ in Glasgow city centre.

To the surprise of no-one none of the young lads have stepped forward, no selfies shared with the new Labour dinosaur.

The attendance released by the Celtic Fans Collective was obtained from inside Celtic Park.

Club security monitors the flow of supporters entering the ground.

At 17.34 on Saturday there were 22,700 fans inside the ground. At 17.42 that number stood at 24,120.

With Dundee bringing around 2,000 fans there were barely 20,000 Celtic fans inside the stadium.

A year ago a5.30pm kick off against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup drew an attendance of 39,207.

A clear victory and endorsement for the Collective.

How do we know that? The fact that Celtic have refused to publish the attendance, that and Wilson’s rushed Celtic TV appearance.

ON A MISSION AGAINST THE COLLECTIVE

This week we await those promised meetings between Wilson and different supporter groups.

One meeting with the Collective would give the Chairman access to over 400 different groups of Celtic supporters.

Avoiding that is the only policy of the Celtic board.

The draw for the Scottish Cup will see traditional supporter groups abandon all principles for the promise of extra tickets for Ibrox.

The Collective won’t flinch from their objectives.

There are bigger issues at play than taking selfies at Ibrox to show what an uber fan you are.

The Collective will meet up again next week in Glasgow.

Celtic’s Europa League tie against Stuttgart could become very uncomfortable for the Celtic board.

Wilson’s four young friends may have a stronger message to send that ‘cheers Brian, you are a right good Sellick man’.

Why is it such an issue if the club dont release figures? Who actually cares?
Your collective is such an important group that ut takes between 19-22 of them to be leaders depending on what you read.
You are obviously an ardent supporter of the Collective so perhaps you can put your next blog article to making it one about the Collective leadership and name them and show who they are as to date they are a hidden entity whose actions will create long term damage to Celtic whether you agree or not that is what they are doing.

Great to see that the Collective is causing you so much anguish.

Likewise your heroes Michael, Chris and Brian.

All the encouragement that the Collective requires.

This site will publish whatever it likes, it certainly won’t be publishing to your agenda.

Maybe your Happy Clapping colleagues at CQN can do a deep dive into the Collective, perhaps after they review the July 2012 paperwork around the Five/Six Way Agreement.

Irony is just a big lump of metal to you isn’t it.
“Their actions create long term damage to Celtic”.

Its people like yourself that are damaging the club most of all by not taking action that the collective promotes in order that it improves.
