Four days on from a video clip surfacing of a young fan being attacked by three Celtic stewards there is no mention in legacy media.
As we know legacy outlets like the Daily Record, Herald, Sun, Daily Mail, STV and others spend significant time trawling through X/Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for content.
Recently they highlighted one Twitter reply that was threatening to Peter Lawwell. That reply made headlines and was rightly condemned by the news outlets.
Strangely, or maybe not the Daily Record, Sun and STV have yet to highlight the attack on a young fan who was man-handled by three stewards after James Forrest scored against Aberdeen.
Most Celtic fans were disgusted by the 10 second clip.
CELTIC FAN MEDIA TO THE RESCUE
YouTuber Taylor O’Hear has less than 400 followers on X/Twitter. The video clip of the stewards has been viewed more than 300,000 times.
The Celtic Fans Collective and other popular Twitter accounts have highlighted the clip.
But not the Daily Record, Sun or STV.
And yet just last week they were all over the open blade farce at Tannandice! A fan with an index finger next to a high-viz vest.
Three main publishers and broadcasters all over a complete non-story.
The same outlets haven’t gone near the clip, which is genuine, of the stewards and a young supporter.
@CelticFC Any need for the stewards to do this ? shocking from them @CelticSlo pic.twitter.com/sH7krUU2Pe

The footage attached is clearly extremely troubling but this incident has unfortunately not occurred in isolation. There is a pattern of stewards and police mistreating fans at matches, whilst the board silently looks the other way. https://t.co/qInNv6cKzB

Why haven’t they touched the incident above?
CELTIC MAINSTREAM PARTNERS
On Tuesday the mainstream outlets were all invited to Lennoxtown where they were given interviews with Wilfried Nancy and Ben Nygren. There is probably another player interview embargoed until 10.30pm tonight.
Celtic presented their partners with three days of content to be slotted in and published over the Christmas holiday period.
In return a blind eye is turned to the three stewards and the young fan.
This incident also highlights the dilemma facing Celtic fan media. Do they want to be fans or do they want to be media?
Around 30 websites and podcasts have signed up to the Celtic Fans Collective, Celtic Quick News hasn’t as has The Celtic Way which is unsure if it is mainstream or fan based. Pushed they are mainstream, part of Newsquest with Johnny McFarlane their Editor in Chief.
Until recently many fan outlets have enjoyed the best of both worlds.
CELTIC FAN MEDIA DILEMMA
On a rota where two websites or podcasts were invited to a pre or post match media conference now and then they pulled a Golden Ticket. Being in the right place at the right time.
After a senior figure at Celtic demolished Brendan Rodgers to The Sun the next media conference was going to be box office.
ACSOM and Celtic Underground asked the best questions. The Sun didn’t send a reporter. Rodgers answered openly and honestly.
When Wilfried Nancy was appointed as Celtic manager The Celtic Star and Celts are here had their expected access cancelled.
Fan media access to the club was suddenly under review. You don’t need to be in MENSA to work out what that means, even a Daily Record reporter knows the outcome.
Celtic are entering a very critical phase.
Football decisions are being driven by a guy that managed Exeter City for 12 years. Paul Tisdale has no prior experience of his current role.
Tisdale has appointed a manager based on a mutual friend that was his youth coach at Exeter. At the age of 48 Nancy has four years experience in management, all in the MLS.

There are dozens of meaningful questions for fan media to ask.
THE ISSUES GOING INTO 2026
Celtic 2026 is being driven by a few guys with virtually no top level experience. Both appointed by Michael Nicholson.
Supporters have certain questions to be asked. Media conferences will consist of froth from agreeable media partners.
The treatment of the ‘open blade’, Lawwell tweet and attacks by stewards confirms all that you need to know.
Celtic think that they can control the message, keep a lid on legitimate concern from supporters.
The Celtic Fans Collective and most fan media outlets will provide a service, a counter balance. Hold the club to account from outside the tent.
As the banners announced at Tannadice. CELTIC’S SHAME, ONE DOWN, MORE TO GO.

A great way to encourage young fans for the future. Treat them like animals and mishandle them. I have never seen any other football club corral its supporters the way Celtic do in isolating the standing section. The board hides behind all sorts of justification but the truth is they would rather we supporters only paid our money and did not attend.
