Fabrizio Romano is the best connected reporter on the football scene.
He has the social media following that football clubs would kill for. On X/Twitter he has 26.4m followers, Celtic are just under the 1m mark.
When clubs and agents are concluding deals a WhatsApp message to Romano seems to be an essential part of the package.
If you aren’t following the Italian transfer expert you are left out in the dark.
That said he doesn’t always get things right, last week he had Steven Gerrard back in the Ibrox dug-out. Didn’t happen.
THE RODGERS CONTRACT
During the week Romano wandered into the issue of Brendan Rodgers’ deal with Celtic.
There are dozens of strands to this, it would take pages to cover every angle.
To the outsider, after being let down at every stage by an out of date board that appear to be on a determined bid to weaken the Celtic squad it would seem incredible if Rodgers was to agree to more of the same.
Additionally there has been no offer from Celtic despite their manager being out of contract in less than nine months.
It is a bizarre game. Rodgers has spoken public a few times about the issue, Michael Nicholson prefers the sound of silence. Even if he has a Post-it note about it in his office.
WHO KNOWS?
Bottom line is that no-one knows.
Rodgers said that after Celtic won the title last season away to Dundee United. He keeps his thoughts private. He doesn’t have an agent or a network of friendly journalists feeding off crumbs.
Despite that Romano was sharing his insight, Give Me Sport reported:
Reports suggest that the manager is unsure of his future and would be open to returning to the Premier League, or managing abroad, once his contract expires.
When asked about the current situation, Romano revealed that there are some clubs showing an interest in the Northern Irishman but there is no guarantee that he won’t stay at Celtic beyond the current campaign.
“There are clubs interested in Rodgers, so an exit in summer 2026 is a possibility. But not a guarantee yet. Celtic will try their best to keep him.”
Very few fans expect Celtic to try their best.
When senior figures go running to a friend of Roger Hannah the Celtic CEO decides to take no action.
After reaching the Round of 16 Champions League Play Off last season Rodgers looked to strengthen his squad.
Nicholson opted to cash in by selling Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah. Replacements were an after thought, a rummage through leftovers.
The incompetence, contempt and lack of leadership from the club CEO has created the Celtic Fans Collective.

Rodgers said:
What I’ll also say is, there are very few people that know me and there’s even less that understand me.
That’s a really small group of people. So when I see all the headlines?
I don’t have an agent, so there’s no agent spinning a story for me or anything like that. It’s just a guess.
If there’s a headline out there, I’m telling you it’s a guess because hardly anyone knows what I think and actually understands how I work.
Celtic’s season is stumbling along. Shapeless in the image of their £1m a year CEO.
After the last gasp actions in the 2024 summer window fans expected things to change this year.
Having got away with it once Nicholson tried again, he failed miserably with a costly defeat to Kairat Almaty.
The first team squad is far weaker than a year ago, every area except the left wing needs strengthen. This year Nicholson has signed three left wingers and sold one right winger. He wonders why supporters complain and discuss boycotts. He shrugs his shoulders when questioned on club signings.
Rodgers has been badly let down, pushed out to face the media twice a week while the CEO hides. Nicholson has been involved in one media interview in four years draining the CEO salary from the club.
He may yet sign another Celtic contract, almost certainly he won’t.

The contrast between us and Sevco couldn’t be more obvious, or for that matter, with any other club.
They have a shit manager and he’s hounded out in months, same at clubs all over the UK, no time given.
At Celtic it’s a bit different, find a man that delivers trebles and doubles for fun……and punt him.
Can anyone even name another club that behaves like that?
It’s beyond comprehension.
