Celtic Fans Collective set their targets

A truly unprecedented number of Celtic fans have come together to launch the Celtic Fans Collective.

Everyone is represented and all Celtic fans who want change can get involved.

The summer of discontent has given way to a unified, organised and motivated Collective pushing for specific changes at the club using agreed measures.

“There is unity of purpose around short-term visibility, medium-term escalation building towards the AGM, and developing an argument for long-term governance reform”, the Collective opening statement said.

The campaign got underway in style at Rugby Park on Sunday with the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic leading the way with the 12th Man protest.

Both ultras groups have stepped up again, along with the Celtic Trust, to fund further actions at Firhill on Sunday.

CELTIC AGM 2025

The pressure will build until November’s AGM when the fans demands can no longer be ignored.

And just in case anyone thought the rumoured sacrificial lamb would satisfy supporters, the Celtic Fans Collective have produced the perfect response in their overarching aim.

To modernise the governance and strategic direction of Celtic Football Club by ensuring:

  • A clear vision that reflects the ambitions of the support.
  • A transparent and respectful relationship between the Club and its supporters.
  • Corporate governance standards befitting an organisation of Celtic’s scale and reputation.
  • No more secret plans in locked offices with post-it notes attached.

It really is truly shocking that the Open Letter that brought the Celtic Fans Collective together in the first place remains unanswered.

The clubs social media accounts have resumed normal business, asking fans for more money.

To launch a new merchandise store on Queen Street while the Open Letter remains unanswered demonstrates everything we always suspected of the clubs attitude to us fans – give us your cash and don’t ask any questions.

Along with the launch of the latest adidas range, this just demonstrates the complete disconnect that currently exists between the boardroom and the average fan in the stands.

The Celtic Fans Collective cannot be ignored.

STRENGTH IN UNITY

The main three Celtic supporters associations are all on the steering group of the Collective.

As are the Celtic Trust, Fans Against Criminalisation, the Celtic Disabled Supporters Association, the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic, North Curve Celtic, Celtic Fan Media and the Fan Forum.

As well as ten supporters clubs from Scotland, England and Ireland.

Such a coming together of Celtic fans is truly unprecedented.

And with numbers like that there wont be any secret suspended match bans getting handed out anytime soon.

How the club respond to this united front can only be guessed at.

SILENCE ISN’T COMMUNICATING

But what must be abundantly clear now is that silence and ignorance is no longer an option for those in the boardroom at Celtic Park, that is what got us to this point.

Gaslighting us about UEFA impediments to spending money on players then posting record profits of £34 million is no longer an option.

Hiding the results of the fan survey for over a year is no longer an option when North Curve Celtic managed to collate and present the views of tens of thousands of fans in under a week.

Sneaking out a Saturday night statement that reads like cheap AI and claiming it as communication with fans is no longer an option.

And don’t even think about a cowardly attack on the manager via an anonymous leak to The Sun.

The pressure is building with every day that goes by without a response to the Open Letter.

And it will build even further at every game with the fans forcing the issue onto the screens and across Scottish football media.

The Celtic Fans Collective will be launching their social media accounts any day now and there are already representatives in place to present the message to the media. CLICK HERE to follow the Twitter/X account.

There are also plans to conduct research on governance, finance and comparative models across football to strengthen the case for reform.

Exciting times ahead and the chance for all supporters to get involved.

We will never have a better opportunity to force change at the club and ensure we fans are listened to in the future.
