Celtic fans piled in on Joey Barton after another late night Twitter rant, this time about Scott Brown and a scar from almost nine years ago.
In the summer of 2016 the midfield ace was head hunted to lead the Warburton Revolution- putting Brendan Rodgers and Brown in their place as the 2012 Ibrox Tribute Act entered the big league for the first time ever.
With no honours to his name other than being Burnley’s Player of the Year after winning promotion to the EPL Barton was all-in for the task, taking his arrogance and lack of ability north of the border to show the Jocks just how good he is.
During the close season Barton was bad mouthing all things Celtic, a tactic loved by the Scottish media as the Gullible & Deluded were convinced that they were about to witness a long period of domestic domination.
They certainly did.
Barton lasted five SPFL matches before collecting his coffee maker and heading back home to Burley with a record of two wins, two draws and one epic defeat in the SPL.
Clearly it still hurts the gobby Scouser to this day that he was picked up and spat out by journeymen Jocks that he probably couldn’t pick out in an ID parade.
Ali Crawford was first up, megging Barton in the SPL opener as Hamilton Accies drew 1-1 at Ibrox on the opening day with Sky Sports capturing the moment.
After laboured 2-1 victories over Dundee and Motherwell Greg Taylor produced a memorable moment as the English legend discovered Rugby Park for the first time.
A week later and it was all over for Barton, he was cut down to size by Rodgers and Brown as Moussa Dembele marked his arrival in Scottish football with a hat-trick.
Scoot Brown never came to England. The big league. Stayed in the footballing backwater. The retirement home all his career.
He gets zero respect.
At least Barry Ferguson came and gave it a go. 🇬🇧 https://t.co/uX7smTU768

Barton couldn’t resist picking up on one of the replies.
Lost one game up there and was still getting for at 34. But yeah Scotland is a big league! 😭😭😭
Couldn’t cope with the level after playing 15 years in England and France.
Stay off the Tennant Special Brew and the Spice lad.
Up The Teddy Bears 🇬🇧

Before the match at Celtic Park kicked off Barton was unable to look Scott Brown in the eye when the opposing players exchanged handshakes.
After the whistle blew Barton, Nicky Kranjcar and Josh Windass never got a sniff of the ball, Andy Halliday looked on from the bench.
Dembele scored a hat-trick, Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong also netted with Barton finishing the match in central defence trying to keep beach balls out of the net. He failed with that as well.
Five days after the match Barton was given a club suspension, word on the street was that he had trashed Mister Warburton and his new team-mates when he returned to training at Murray Park.
Two more club suspensions were served before a mutual agreement was put in place with the designer coffee machine removed from Murray Park.
His return to Burnley was cut short by an FA suspension for betting on football matches, had he stayed in Scotland he would have got a token two or three match suspension. Ian Black was given a three match suspension for betting against his own team.
Management has been short and not so sweet for Barton, spells at Fleetwood and Bristol Rovers were as unsuccessful as his playing career.
Over the last year his social media content has become increasingly right-wing, the days of playing the ‘intellectual-footballer’ card because he carried a book are long gone.
Last month he was found guilty of kicking his wife in the head and is awaiting sentence with the likelihood that he is facing a second stint in prison.
What was the score when u lost very badly and ended up in SB’s pocket 🤔🍀 pic.twitter.com/Gcnyey2vzl

Imagine thinking that of Scottish football, then coming to play here because nobody else wanted you, then claiming you would be the best player only to be the worst and leave within a few months 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

You ran your mouth, then you ran away. Brown absolutely destroyed you. Pretty much finished your career. You couldn’t even look him in the eye. pic.twitter.com/jItVjPdDHn

Say what you want about Brown with regards to his ability, but at least he wasn’t a wife beating, racist coward. pic.twitter.com/gMTwywCJuE
