Brendan Rodgers could have to wait until Thursday to discover if he is to be charged by the SFA of bringing the game into disrepute.
The Celtic boss was highly critical of the officials in operation at Tynecastle on Sunday as Celtic lost 2-0 to Hearts, playing for all but 15 minutes with 10 men.
Over two spells in Scottish football Rodgers has barely commented on refereeing issues despite amble incidents that fans have wanted to see highlighted.
Kyogo Furuhashi and Alistair Johnston have been knocked out by brutal challenges this season without their opponents being sent off, last week at Motherwell Dan Casey raised his hand in the penalty box to deflect a shot from Yang Hyun-jun over the bar without any VAR review.
Earlier in the match Theo Bair had put in a head high challenge on Daizen Maeda that went unpunished, a more dangerous incident than the one that Yang was red carded for.
The list is virtually endless, in the first Glasgow Derby of the season Kyogo was thrown to the ground by Jack Butland and Connor Goldson, in the December rematch David Turnbull was decked by James Tavernier while a wrong offside call gave Nick Walsh a route away from awarding a penalty.
Finally on Sunday Rodgers hit out at decisions that his side has suffered from, after covering Yang’s rejected appeal the Daily Mail reports:
But Rodgers’ comments could yet land him in hot water with the SFA, whose rules forbid any criticism that would ‘indicate bias or incompetence on the part of such match official’.
Mail Sport understands Hampden chiefs are still exploring their options with regards to any possible sanction.
The Rodgers case is not part of the fast-track appeals process, hence why a decision has taken slightly longer. But Hampden sources believe that an outcome should be known at some point over the next 24 to 48 hours.
If he is issued with a Notice of Complaint for bringing the game into disrepute, Rodgers could well face a touchline ban. A controversial game saw with both teams awarded contentious penalties as Hearts eventually won 2-0.
Speaking on Sunday, Rodgers said: ‘Don Robertson actually got it right on the field. It was a high boot, so it’s a yellow card – no malice or force.
‘For John Beaton to actually look at that in VAR, supposedly under no pressure, and say that was a sending off, I find that incredible.
‘The second one (Hearts’ penalty) is worse. If you have a penalty go against you for that, then there will be penalties every single weekend and midweek.
‘It was a poor day for the officials. I try to respect decisions and give the benefit of the doubt, but when I see that level of incompetence, which is the only word I can use, then that makes me worry for the game.’
After the Yang appeal was rejected a Celtic spokesperson said that they were surprised and disappointed by the decision.
