STV News dupes Police Scotland over ‘blade-finger’

STV News appear to have duped Police Scotland into investigating an INDEX FINGER!

It seems that attempts to demonise the Celtic support and especially the Green Brigade has got the better of the news desk of the broadcaster

THE ‘BLADE’

Over on the dark side of social media claims were made that a bladed weapon was pointed towards the Celtic directors at Tannadice on Wednesday night.

Once upon a time news desks were staffed by reporters that had experience of the real world. Reporters that could come up with a story without the ‘benefits’ of social media. Reporters that experienced fresh air.

Anyone with a knowledge of football crowds and stadium security in 2025 would instantly dismiss the story on two grounds

  • If it had happened the fan involved would have been arrested on the spot with front page headlines created
  • No fan, ultra or anything else is going to lean over a Police Officer to to wave a blade at targets a few metres away.

CLOSE INSPECTION OF THE IMAGE ABOVE SHOWS AN INDEX FINGER, IN THE BACKGROUND THERE IS THE ILLUMIONOUS MATERIAL OF A POLICE OFFICERS VEST.

Also in that image you can see the fake notes that were being thrown around the area close to the Celtic directors.

NEWSROOM 2025

Clearly there is pressure and targets in the modern newsroom. Every hour editors can get a Google Analytics update to see what stories are performing. By perform that means drawing traffic and advertising income.

Reporters know what us trending. Keiran Fleming seems to have got carried away when he was presented with 2 and 2. Include Celtic and crime and the analytics would be off the radar.

As a bonus it won’t do your employer any harm in the eyesof Celtic to present their supporters in a bad light. All because seven awkward questions were raised in an open letter at the start of September.

On October 6 Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay met up with anti-establishment fans to pay lip service to customer engagement. The Celtic CEO got so engaged that he shrugged his shoulders as he answered a question on club signings.

A few hours before Wednesday’s match Celtic announced that Peter Lawwell was stepping down as Chairman at the end of the month.

A FAMILIAR DEFLECTION STORY

Typical of him he deflected attention away from his multiple failings as a Chairman and CEO. The club statement opted to blame his decision on threats made to himself and his family.

It is a familiar tale from Celtic this season as they attempt to deflect attention away from club failings. Failings that cost them a place in the Champions League, lost an elite manager and a cup final to St Mirren. With probably more to follow.

Chairman Lawwell couldn’t even host the AGM in the face of the slightest form of heckling. In the House of Commons there are livelier exchanges every Wednesday at Prime Ministers Question Time.

For reasons best known to himself Chairman Lawwell handed the podium to the son of a non-executive Director to make a very direct attack on Celtic fans.

Lawwell pulled the plug on the speech from Ross Desmond then aborted the AGM. Which had ran for less than an hour which included a 30 minute adjournment.

OUTGOING CHAIRMAN LAWWELL

During what passed of the AGM Lawwell yelled ‘Behave’ at shareholders. The lack of scrutiny and accountability in his day to day work was evident to all.

A similar tactic was used at the start of this month after posters with images and one diagonal red line were displayed at various locations across Glasgow.

A nameless Celtic spokesman ran to the Daily Record/Sunday Mail about the level of intimidation being felt. Apparently posters near schools had alarmed the schoolchildren of Celtic Directors. Chairman Lawwell’s kids left school some time ago.

Detail on the story were flimsy. Almost two weeks later there has been no reports of arrests or charges made.

With each reaction from inside Celtic the support and resolve of the Celtic Fans Collective grows.

Over 400 different supporter groups have backed the call for basic questions to be answered about the running of the club.

So far Celtic have refused to provide answers. In terms of engagement CEO Nicholson is excited by a new app and an upgrade to Celtic TV.

In 2025 supporters are well educated and can see through the spin and deflection tactics.

There was no bladed weapon at Tannadice, and still no answers from Nicholson and his boardroom colleagues to the legitimate concerns of supporters.
