Nicholson dismisses Fans Collective with utter contempt

Celtic rejected all of the supporters’ concerns over the running of the club at a meeting on Monday night with Michael Nicholson centre stage.

The Celtic Fans Collective attended the meeting with Nicholson and Chris McKay at Celtic Park.

Armed with an open letter that the vast majority of Celtic fans signed up to, there were hopes that at least a positive initial contact could be established between the Collective and the club executives.

It wasn’t to be.

Despite all the major supporters organisations criticising how the club conduct transfer business, both of the club “heavyweights” expressed satisfaction with the current set up.

We can expect January’s transfer window to be similar to this summer.

HIGHLIGHTING THE DISCONNECT

All through the two hour plus meeting both executives displayed a “lack of humility, awareness and accountability.”

Just like their thousand plus word statement last month that was roundly derided by all who read it.

All the negative feedback that horrific statement generated from both supporters and media mattered not a jot to them.

All they did on Monday, faced with representatives of the majority of all Celtic fans, was repeat the same tired old drivel – we’ve done nothing wrong, the club is on the right course.

So now we know for a fact what we all suspected – Nicholson and McKay have to go, there is no way back for them now.

That horror statement last month wasn’t a misstep – it’s what they actually believe.

Celtic, Nicholson

There was one moment of hilarity at the meeting – when the club said communication with fans could be better, said at a meeting where they rejected outright everything the fans were saying.

Not sure which club employee has the wicked sense of humour but I hope they gave that joke the delivery it deserved.

This complete refusal to acknowledge the views of supporters means we are in for the long haul to get proper leadership in at Celtic.

We can only hope they are removed before any more significant damage is done to the club.

THE ASSET STRIPPING

Until they are gone the first team will continue to be asset stripped. The fans will continue to be ignored and the stadium will continue to be neglected.

Crowds will carry on dwindling and more and more racks of adidas tat will remain in the club stores.

So be it.

This is the price Nicholson and McKay are prepared to pay to cling on to their inflated salaries.

The Fans Collective will now have to regroup and plot the best course to enforce change.

There was no stadium sell out for the recent games against Motherwell and Braga.

Without being asked to boycott, fans are already starting to drift away.

Is it caused by the lack of investment in the first team, being treated with contempt by club staff, overpriced tickets?

CLINGING ON TO POWER

Under the leadership of Nicholson there are so many reasons why fans are starting to stay away.

And into this current horror show the club will shortly introduce their most expensive adidas clothing range yet.

Track jackets costing £200 are not uncommon in the adidas Spezial range.

Good luck with that Celtic and Adidas.

You couldn’t have picked a less opportune moment to ask Celtic fans to fund the CEO’s £900,000 annual salary.

The millionaire executives running our club have no concept of what it means to be an ordinary Celtic fan.

We are simply viewed as a guaranteed income stream, nothing more, nothing less.

Our views and opinions about Celtic are not welcome, just keep handing over the cash and shut up.

So we have to prepare for the long war.

It’s unfortunate that more damage will be inflicted on the club before real leadership is finally installed.

But that’s not the fans fault, Nicholson chose this course.

He believes the club is on the right path.

And however long it takes, the Celtic fans will get him out.

Support the team but dont visit club shops or buy anything inside the ground. Our team will end up like Rangers because this lot have lowered the standard of players we are bringing into the team. They are shameless and wont listen to any words but will listen to lack of money coming in .

Nicholson has a boss, the single majority shareholder, Dermot Desmond. Until someone or a group of shareholders get together and put together a consortium holding 51% of the shares and oust him as majority shareholder we have no voice. The absent Billionaire doesn’t give a thought to the fans Celtic are a toy and his son a puppet.

This board is currently careening towards recreating the pre Fergus era ‘missing 10,000 fans’ that he had the vision to highlight and to develop the strategy to address – allowing him to totally rebuild Celtic Park. This is corporate negligence of the highest order.
