When it comes to transfer activity and speculation, you can almost take a tweet from Fabrizio Romano to the bank. Late on Saturday he put his stamp on Celtic signing Ben Nygren.
A fee of €1.5m will go to Danish side Nordsjaelland with the player signing a contract that runs until June 2029.
A four year contract is a welcome change in policy with Celtic currently burdened by players like Marco Tilio, Kwon Hyeok-kyu, Maik Nawrocki and the others signed by Mark Lawwell in the summer of 2023 and sitting on contracts running through until June 2023.
A four year contract is fine for both sides, if Nygren realy shines he will be offered an upgraded deal to reflect his new status, if he creates interest from elsewhere Celtic are well covered by the length od his deal.
NOTE: Nygren arrives at Celtic with a far stronger profile than any of the 2023 signings, he has been in good form in the Danish league, forcing his way into the Swedish national side after a few years as a slow burner.

Isak on Nygren
After playing together in the June internationals Newcastle striker Alexander Isak was asked about his Celtic-bound team-mate:
It was very good to play with Benjamin. I really enjoyed it. It’s clear he is a fearless player who has a lot of confidence.
Playing with a winger like that who is able to provide good crosses can only be beneficial for someone like me.
I think he did incredibly well in the two games and it was a nice boost for him that he was also able to score his goal too.
Isak describes Nygren as a winger, other reports and profiles describe him more as an attacking midfielder or a shadow striker.
Celtic have lacked that attacking midfielder since the sale of Matt O’Riley last August, someone that can arrive in the penalty box at exactly the optimum time or deliver the killing pass between the lines.
There is a lot of expectation on a signing who will turn 24 next month, arriving for a fee of around £1.2m
Ben Nygren’s Transfermarkt profile.
When will we see Nygren?
After scoring away to Hungary in a 2-0 win on June 6 and played in the 4-3 home win over Algeria it can be assumed that Nygren is currently on holiday with the paperwork on his Celtic deal completed.
Celtic’s first friendly, away to Queens Park on July 4 looks to be too early for the Swede and Celtic’s other internationalists.
He should have joined up with his new team-mates in time for the match away to Cork City on July 8 but there may just be a token appearance at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
The pre-season work will then be stepped up in the heat of the Algarve with two weeks of intensive work built around a friendly against Sporting Lisbon on July 16.
Nygren and Isak could be on opposite sides when Newcastle visit Celtic Park on July 19 before the pre-season build up switches to Como and a four team tournament over July 24/27 before the action gets serious with the SPFL Premiership opener against St Mirren on August 3.
