The morning after Celtic’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig Chris Sutton was out looking for the critics and snipers.
TalkSPORT seems to provide a rallying point for them led by no-marks like Jason Cundy and Adrian Durham whose fleeting interest in Scottish football tends to start and end with bad results for Celtic.
Shooting your gob off on radio after Celtic lose out is certain to gather a reaction, there is a commercial element to slaughtering the hoops but some pundits seem able to do it with a special level of enthusiasm.
Celtic’s 7-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund was a terrible result, the result of a poor performance which showed up very badly, it seemed like the pattern of the last few seasons was going to continue.
Brendan Rodgers has been central to some similar scorelines, there was an element of glee from Cundy and Co who struggle to understand why anyone with EPL experience could be excited by the challenge of working elsewhere.
The Celtic boss never wavered despite the Dortmund result, he had belief in his players and was rewarded by them with four points from Atalanta and RB Leipzig. Two clubs from the richer leagues with far greater budgets than Celtic.
No context is ever taken by the Shock Jocks, Sutton offers a deeper insight with the one time Chelsea striker delighted that Rodgers’ courage and belief has been rewarded with two outstanding results giving Celtic the real prospect of progress in the Champions League.
Hi Chris. You scraped past a struggling RB Lipezig who haven’t won a single point I the CL. I can assure you we are still laughing, and we will be laughing when you inevitably crash out and spectacular style.

NS (No Sense?) is typical of the Gullible & Deluded, hanging on to everything Celtic related rather than lying low and picking your moment which might allow him to gain a little credibility, perhaps he should be showing more concern about Thursday’s trip to Greece in UEFA’s second tier competition.
😂😂😂 they have only played Liverpool Atletico and Juventus
And we bossed them more than the 3 of them clubs 😊
They couldn’t live with Celtic last night 3-1 flattered them ☺️

After Celtic’s 7-1 defeat to Dortmund the Daily Record joyously reported Cundy saying:
I’m bored. Every single Champions League campaign around this time Celtic get it in the neck, mate. They’re embarrassing Scottish and British football. Win the league, celebrate, get pumped… win the league, celebrate, get pumped… win the league, celebrate, get pumped.
Poor wee bitter obsessed man! Lost his bet and his head last night🤯 Keep on laughing🤣🤣🤣

Praise for Celtic was thin on the ground last night, some hoops fans made it through to TalkSPORT where they weren’t slow to put the boot in and call out Cundy.
Laughing it off he fulfills his purpose to that radio station, someone who makes noise with no credibility or respect for his opinions.
Liverpool probably carried a bit of luck to win 1-0 away to RB Leipzig in Matchday 3, last night Celtic were thoroughly deserving of their win with the German’s getting let off lightly by the scoreline. Sutton was well aware of the threat Leipzig carried.
After what was effectively a decade of sliding backwards in Europe Rodgers has halted that and pointed the way forward with a squad of 15/16 capable players, there is no big drop off when substitutions are made or reliance on a couple of individuals.
With victories comes confidence and expectations, having taken seven points from four matches one more victory should be enough to see Celtic through into the Round 16 Play Offs.
There is the very real prospect of 10 meaningful Champions League matches stretching into February which boosts the club in so many ways.
Financial is obvious with UEFA prize money and gate receipts rolling in, players are gaining in stature and value with the profile of the club again on the rise.
Unless they go on to win the trophy Celtic face two rounds of qualifiers for next season’s competition but the rise in co-efficient will see them seeded to face Champions from similar sized leagues. Sutton and selected others will be pleased by the upturn.
Chelsea and others can slip straight into the competition from fourth place in the EPL but the laughs and gags at Celtic’s expense are likely to become rarer as Rodgers makes progress in his mission to get Celtic performing again as a capable and dangerous European opponent that no one credible treats lightly.
And all Cundy wanted to still reference was the Dortmund game where Celtic apparently embarrassed British football. He obviously intentionally tries to be controversial but just comes across as an idiot 🤡

Let’s hear them talk about English football after man city’s humiliation last night 👍

You could make a case, given the players and squad, that Man City’s result last night was on a par with Dortmund. 🤔
— Gary Rush (@GaryRush1987) November 6, 2024
You expect it from the usual suspects, but there’s plenty of so called supporters willing to put the boot in as well.

Also the new format has been a big shot in the arm! Really enjoying it in general, trying to figure out what results I want. 🍀
