Celtic fans seem rather underwhelmed by news of another exciting new kit launch- again celebrating the clubs Irish origins. Again.
With enthusiasm draining game by game this season the day after squeezing past Livingston in the Scottish Cup isn’t exactly the time to be reaching out for the credit and debut cards.
Celtic have been reluctant to use Twitter in recent weeks with the Interim Report, Mark Lawwell’s ‘resignation’ and the transfers of Liel Abada and Alexandro Bernabei kept away from the most reactive social media platform. On Monday night they returned with a bang.

So far this season three kits have been used by the first team but the most popular shirt, a plainer than plan hoops creation brought out as a limited edition in September has yet to be seen on the pitch.
With Season Tickets coming in at around £600, a Champions League package costing £138 another kit on top of the four previously released pushes spending clear of £1,000 for the most dedicated of supporters.
Absolutely no-one is compelled to buy either tickets or merchandise but Adidas know the market they are operating in, with St Patrick’s Day, Easter and spring time round the corner they’ll have a good idea of the units that they are likely to sell in.
A year ago such an announcement would be greeted with multiple offers to ‘rake my money’ but in the current circumstances the well of Goodwill is running dangerously dry.
Next season is the final one of the contract between Celtic and Adidas, it has been the kit deal that fans have waited a long time for with both parties likely to be keen to extend their money making partnership.
