Celtic fans aren’t impressed by the news that the signing of Luis Palma won’t be completed until Thursday or Friday.

Giannis Chorianopoulos has provided Celtic supporters with very reliable information on all things Greek since he flagged up interest in Vasilis Barkas.

Earlier today the Editor of Sporttime tweeted that the transfer from ARIS Thessalonika to Celtic would be completed today but at tea-time he had to update that timeline.

As a Honduran, Palma will need certain paperwork in place which suggests that Celtic only decided very recently to make their move for the ARIS winger.

The paperwork shouldn’t be any problem, Celtic have signed two Koreans during the current window but the timeline suggests that Palma won’t be involved at Ibrox on Sunday and casts doubt on claims that five players could be signed this week.

It is now nine days since Celtic lost to Kilmarnock in the Viaplay Cup with Maik Nawrocki joining the injury list with a two month absence expected.

At most clubs the performance and result at Rugby Park would have resulted in accelerated transfer activity but it seems that Celtic’s Recruitment Team operates in a bubble unaffected by outside events.

Without Ange Postecoglou’s know-how Mark Lawwell has to rely on his own experience and contacts to get business completed with this window in stark contrast to January and the others under the new Spurs boss.

Alistair Johnston had made his Celtic debut four weeks before Josip Juranovic moved to Union Berlin, now, six weeks after Jota left for Al Ittihad Lawwell is still running around trying to get a deal done on a cut price replacement.

Before moving to Celtic last July Lawwell claimed to be the Head of Scouting and Recruitment at the City Football Group a post that he held for nine years and nine months.

That experience should make getting Celtic deals through fairly straightforward but there is no outside evidence to back up the claims that Lawwell makes on his Linkedin profile.

Strangely there is no mention of what Lawwell Junior was doing before he got that senior job with the CFG.
