Options closing for Ibrox star once linked with Juventus

Paul Robinson has warned Leeds United not to go near Glen Kamara.

In trademark fashion sections of the Scottish media seem unable to mention the Ibrox misfit without linking Kamara with a move to Leeds.

Ryan Kent had it during every transfer window with the Yorkshire side keeping tabs or lining up a bid for the winger no matter who was managing Leeds.

After taking one point from their first two matches in The Championship Leeds are in need of a lift with new boss Daniel Farke expected to reproduce the promotion winning results that took Norwich twice back to the EPL.

Kamara seems to be a very unlikely fit for the grind of The Championship with 46 matches crammed in every Saturday and Tuesday to pick up the £130m prize of a place in the world’s most lucrative division.

Robinson came through the ranks at Leeds when they were competing for the title and playing in the Champions League.

Gaining promotion from the Championship is a very difficult task with the former England goalkeeper telling MOT Leeds that his old club should steer clear of the Finnish internationalist:

I have not really seen that much of him because he’s been left out of the squad at Rangers.

He’s not playing at that level and Leeds will want players that come in and make an impact until your starting lineup.

If you look at the likelihood of players that could potentially leave whether it’s Luis Sinisterra, Crysencio Summerville or Willy Gnonto. In the midfield, they’ve already got Ampadu, and Gray too. I think obviously they’ll look to bolster that area.

But you’re looking for players that are going to come in and make an impact. Leeds aren’t in a place where they can take a chance on a player where they, they think they’ll bring a player in and this might work or it might not.

They’re in a situation now where they’re trying to bounce back at the first attempts. They want players who are proven players and who will improve the starting 11, or at least make a very good case for a start in 11. I’m not sure he’s one.

Since returning to Ibrox from international duty at the end of June Kamara has been training solo at Murray Park with a £5.5m price tag on his head.

Without any pre-season matches it is likely to take Kamara a month to get match sharp which is time that Leeds and other clubs can barely afford as they play for the highest stakes.

Micky Beale was expected to revive Kamara’s career after being part of the management team that identified and signed a player from Dundee, quickly turning him into a transfer target for Juventus.

When Beale named his side for the Viaplay Cup Final in February he went with Kamara and John Lundstram with Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin left on the bench.

Kamara has carried the can for that defeat at Hampden and has been left out of Beale’s Champions League squad.

A fee of £5.5m for the former Dundee man looks as likely as Dembele Dollars for Alfredo Morelos with a loan deal in the final days of the transfer window most likely.
