‘Disgrace of a paper’ ‘What a load of made up crap’ ‘Lies from a red top’ Ibrox fans hammer Daily Record over Dessers claims

Furious Ibrox fans turned on the Daily Record over claims that Cyriel Dessers was jeered when he was substituted against Livingston.

Toiling with a 1-0 lead against David Martindale’s side the former Cremonese ‘ace’ was substituted in the 70^th minute alongside goal hero Sam Dessers with Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima coming on as replacements.

Dessers, who has been using Alfredo Morelos’ old training kit, had made little impression on the game and was unwilling to chase the lost causes that bears love to cheer.

At Kilmarnock last week the Nigerian striker was seen urging the fans to get behind the team, at the final whistle he learned a few Scottish phrases that you won’t pick up in conventional language classes.

There was a reaction to Dessers being substituted, how much was jeering is open to interpretation but the Daily Record wasn’t in any doubt.

With print sales now well under 60,000 a day it seems that the Record’s traditional audience has given up on the Glasgow based publisher.

Years of praising David Murray then drooling over a billionaire from Motherwell crashed credibility with only hard core bears handing over £1.35 a day to read yesterday’s stories in print.

On Tuesday night Beale has to decide whether he sticks with Dessers for the Champions League qualifier away to Servette, if the Swiss side go through there won’t be much doubting over who the jeering is aimed at.
