‘Wow! That is amazing news’ ‘Eases the Jota pain and anxiety’ ‘Thanks admin’ joy for Celtic fans over contract announcement

Celtic fans reacted with delight as the club announced that Kyogo Furuhashi has signed a new four year contract.

Unknown two years ago when he arrived from Vissel Kobe a hat-trick on his home debut against Dundee gave supporters a new hero and a replacement for the goals of the soon to depart Odsonne Edouard.

Over two seasons Kyogo has made an outstanding contribution to the rebirth of the club from Lockdown without the slightest hint of any trouble on or off the park.

It was natural to fear that Ange Postecoglou’s departure could lead to some form of unrest, Spurs seemed a natural fit for the striker but just after 10am this morning the good news was announced on the Celtic website:

I am very happy to extend my stay for four years at this incredible club. It is an honour to represent Celtic Football Club and our amazing supporters.

Last season was unbelievable. From the start of the campaign, our aim was to do as well as we could in every competition we played in.

We worked very hard every day, on and off the pitch, to win silverware and put smiles on our fans’ faces.

To win my first Treble, and help secure a world record breaking eighth Treble for the club was a very proud moment for me and I cherish the memories of celebrating this with our fans.’

With Jota leaving for Al Ittihad last night the Kyogo announcement is a welcome change of direction in terms of morale and team building.

Oh Hyeon-gyu proved in the second half of last season that he is capable of scoring goals in Scotland but there is no doubt that Kyogo is the first choice striker.

Extending the contracts of recently signed players brings some form of stability to the squad and demonstrates that the club is happy to financially reward players that produce the goods.
