Old school Kyogo Furuhashi launches website

Kyogo Furuhashi has launched his own website.

The striker has enjoyed two outstanding seasons at Celtic, last week it was announced that he has signed a new contract that extends his stay until 2027.

With access to supporters through multiple social media platforms it is unusual for players to set up a website but no doubt the advisers to the player see it as a good move.

Earlier this year a Japanese firm produced a documentary about the striker’s life in Glasgow, it contrasted the hero worship he gets at club level with the early morning dejection of being left out of Japan’s World Cup squad.

Rather than feel sorry for himself or angle for a transfer to a more high profile league, Kyogo raised his game to another level to finish the season with 34 domestic goals.

Those statistics disguise the real detail which included a run of five successive goals in the Glasgow derby starting with an 87th minute equaliser at Ibrox that maintained Celtic’s nine point advantage at the top of the SPFL.

At Hampden the following month he scored twice as Celtic won the Viaplay Cup, in the third SPFL derby he scored twice as the hoops won 3-2 to go into the final stretch in the title race with a 12 point lead.

With his place at Celtic now cemented the next goal is to make an impact in the Champions League with Shunsuke Nakamura providing the template for that.
