First footage- Celtic release video as Rodgers returns to the training ground at Lennoxtown

Celtic have released their first video clips of Brendan Rodgers back on the training ground at Lennoxtown.

The ‘new’ boss was spared media duties as John Kennedy discussed the handover from Ange Postecoglou although there was no mention of Jota or Kyogo Furuhashi.

Within a 13 hour timespan Celtic announced the departure of their Superstar from Portugal followed by news that last season’s top scorer had signed a new improved four year contract.

Rodgers was taking an active part in the training sessions at Lennoxtown which seemed to mainly consist of ballwork rather than the old school routine of running players into the ground for a fortnight to get rid of the holiday excesses.

With less than a month between the Scottish Cup Final and a return to training the players barely had time to unwind before they were back in their new training kit and trying to impress the new manager.

Next week the scene will shift to the Algarve and a fresh training base as the internationalists return for a solid week in the sun before the journey to Japan and the first pre- season friendly of the season on July 18 against Yokohama F Marinos.

Brendan’s terrific for the club. I know him very well and have a great working relationship with him from the past.

I know him very well and the standards he sets are very high, so it’s a terrific addition for the club to build on what we have already done here.

Knowing the levels and standards he works to, I know he will only enhance that. He knows the club inside out and he will work with a new group of players that are hungry and striving for success, so he will enhance the whole process.

He’s a terrific guy to work for, so it’s terrific for the club to have him back and I’m sure it will be a successful period.
