First time around Brendan Rodgers transformed the careers of half a dozen players including Tom Rogic, James Forrest, Mikel Lustig, Stuart Armstrong, Scott Brown and Callum McGregor.
I am delighted for Aaron that he has gone out on a real high after making such a telling contribution to Celtic last season and that, together with all his other achievements, should be a real source of pride to him.
Rodgers made clear reference to recruitment issues during his first stint when he was introduced second time around. Hopefully Dermot Desmond won’t be forced into action again with Michael Nicholson learning from his predecessors mistakes.
If Brendan finds that winning formula and starts with a momentum then Celtic can ride that crest of a wave. We are not talking about a managerial novice, he’s an elite manager and he’s been over the course.
I have to say, Scotland brought me a lot of happiness on and off the pitch when I was here. Obviously the joy of working at Celtic was amazing and how successful we were, and off the pitch I had a lot of respect for the city and the country…
