Celtic fans were given some good news this afternoon with Cameron Carter-Vickers signing an extended contract to keep him with the hoops until 2029.
It is the third deal that the defender has signed for the club, arriving on loan in August 2021 then making the permanent switch from Spurs a year later with the minimal of fuss.
There didn’t appear to be much concern about his situation but getting a top player, a certain starter on a long term extension is a welcome statement for the club.
Having came through the ranks at Spurs and being part of the USA squad at the 2022 World Cup Finals it wouldn’t have been difficult for Carter-Vickers to generate interest as American reporter Larry Hendry Junior highlighted shortly before the new contract was announced.

After signing his new contract, Carter-Vickers told the Celtic website:
I am really delighted to sign this new contract with Celtic. I have loved everything about the club from day one and I am so pleased to have been part of some real successful times across the last few years.
You always play the game to win, and being part of some great winning moments with Celtic has been really big for me, a real honour.’
I have had a great welcome and support from the Celtic fans ever since I came here.
We all know the love and passion our fans have for the club, there is nothing better than playing at a packed Celtic Park and I am delighted to be playing my football here.
I have really enjoyed working with the Manager, the staff and great team-mates and we will all be doing everything we can to bring our fans more and more success over the next few years.
Injuries to Carter-Vickers has disrupted the whole Celtic defence during 2023 which has forced a variety of players and partnerships into action.
Nat Phillips has come and gone from Liverpool, Liam Scales has emerged from virtually the ashes with Yuki Kobayashi and Gus Lagerbielke likely to be moving on after falling short of the standards expected.
After being injured away to Dundee on December 26 Carter-Vickers has been out since then but all the signs are that he will be back involved at home to Ross County when the SPFL resumes on Saturday.
That match shouldn’t be too demanding but is followed by away matches at Aberdeen, Hibs and St Mirren over the course of nine days with three victories required to keep Celtic on course for a domestic double of SPFL Premiership and Scottish Cup.
