Valle ahead of Tierney? Brown over-rated? Japanese bhoys are done? The not so Magnificent Seven Unpopular Celtic Opinions

Celtic fans love a debate, these days through social media, podcasts, websites and message boards they can argue/discuss their team morning noon and night.

On many issues there is broad agreement, no XI will ever match the Lisbon Lions, Henrik Larsson is the greatest player this century and the SFA will forever do their bit to assist Celtic’s opponents.

Perhaps only Michael Nicholson thinks that VAR has improved the standard of refereeing. With Andrew Dallas, Greg Aitken and Alan Muir on full time VAR contracts the opposite argument is easily applied.

Over the piece there are many views held by 80% or more of the support, perhaps 90% over the value of players, managers and other issues in the game.

Here and there, dotted around the stadium or online there are always some fans that go against the grain, they have their favourites, their views and nothing but nothing will change their mind.

The EverythingCeltic X account decided to explore that issue earlier today, they weren’t disappointed with a mix of earnest views and a few wind-ups.

It certainly seems like time up for Palma, a year ago he was flying with goals and assists while most of those around him were flagging. His penalty kick routines were a warning however, after the winter break with the arrival of Nicolas Kuhn and relaunch of James Forrest his outings became much less frequent, even more so this season as fifth choice winger.

A classic suggestion put forward by Alex Rae soon after Hatate’s signing was announced. Little was known about the MIDFIELDER but alongside the arrival of Matt O’Riley in January 2022 the signing of Hatate pushed Celtic onto their first title under Ange Postecoglou.

Another classic from the dark side, he was always good and took on a higher profile under Brendan Rodgers while others like Kris Commons, Tony Stokes and Charlie Mulgrew left the scene. It’ll be a long wait before anyone else adds Quadruple Treble winning captain to their Wiki.

A favourite for neutral fans of Co-efficient FC. There is some twisted truth in it but the bottom line is that teams have to go out on the pitch and achieve their own results, no one but Celtic has delivered eight points from five Champions League ties.

Certainly a biggie this one. Should the rapidly developing potential of Alex Valle be a transfer priority over the emotional return of KT? Either would be a strong option, as it stands we have no left-backs signed up beyond the end of this season.

Only nominated today by FIFA as among the top 20 players in the world for their Team of the Year, a semi-finalists with Canada at Copa America. AJ has been at Celtic for less than two years but you never hear anyone say ‘We’re missing Juranovic’ A World Cup semi-finalist and worth a shout in discussing Ange’s best Celtic signing.

Where would we be without them? Combined transfer fees coming in at around £6-7m, or a Danilo as some night call it. They all have their moments, currently Daizen Maeda is the clear start turn.
