Kris Boyd fears that there are people in and around Ibrox that are resigned and content with being second best to Celtic.
With the hoops close to overtaking the trophy tally of both Ibrox clubs it seems a fairly honest admission but not for someone like Boyd, brought up on the artificial superiority installed by Dave Murray.
Only in the nineties has a club from Ibrox been the dominant force in Scottish football but for Boyd and others that era will forever be the benchmark.
Murray kept the club competitive through disguised remuneration schemes that bumped up the wages of players like Boyd, Barry Ferguson, Neil McCann, Steven Thompson and Alex Rae but those days are gone with HMRC keeping a close eye on events at the Tribute Act.
Directors such as John Bennett poured in millions to reward players like Alfredo Morelos, Andy Halliday, Ryan Kent, John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe and Borna Barisic but it seems that after stopping Celtic winning 10-in-a-row the appetite of wealthy blue noses has dropped.
Phil Clement has been left in charge of an Austerity Project with the Chairman and CEO that recruited him no longer in their jobs.
On the park there has been no improvement in any position despite the media spin to big up Connor Barron and Hamza Igamane.
Boyd is sick and tired of watching Celtic carting off the trophies, with Chris Sutton by his side on Sky Sports it seems like the former Scotland striker is just one more defeat away from full meltdown.
Watching Sky Spotrs today the Daily Record reports Boyd saying:
Personally, it’s difficult for me to sit here and say Rangers have to accept second best, because it was never ever in my mindset when I played with the football club and it was never in anyone who was connected with the football club.
When you listen to what is being said, around the football club, that is the kind of mindset I’m in at this moment in time, what you are picking up. It’s going to be time, players in, it’s going to be a project, personally, I cannot sit and say Rangers Football Club is a project, I have said it before, you need to win games of football. Celtic, they have set the standard in Scottish football for a number of years now.
I can’t sit here and say Rangers are a project. Whatever’s happened recently, they’ve fallen off a cliff. They’ve pressed the self-destruct button.
Discussing John Bennett’s decision to step down as Chairman due to ill health Boyd admitted:
It’s another role (that needs to be filled), for me, the structure at Rangers is broken, and they need to get it fixed. James Bisgrove decided to move on and Jim Gillespie was the one who was head-hunted. We were led to believe he was the one who was going to take up the role of chief exec, that is no longer happening, he has knocked that back, for whatever reason.
It seems that James Tavernier is the only sign of stability at Ibrox which is probably a symptom of the problems that have created years of failure.
While Boyd slaughters the current state of the club he seems keen to overlook his own role during the 2014/15 season when he joined up with Kenny Miller in the Championship.
Starting 19 matches and coming off the bench in another 10 he managed just three goals playing under the managerial talents of Ally McCoist, Kenny McDowall and Stuart McCall.

The scum have to keep referring to ourselves, just to keep themselves relevant?
We will be looking to play at least 10 matches this season, within the CL, that many within our support would class as bigger matches, than a Glasgow Derby?
Starting on Wednesday, which I personally would regard as a much bigger match, for ourselves than the last Glasgow Derby?
Far better opposition is to be expected.
That is how far the scum remains behind ourselves imo?
Beating the scum in cup finals, will always be a very joyful occasion, but wouldn’t depend upon the scum facing ourselves in any cup finals this season?
Our CL campaign, hopefully will be our highlight for the season, even if another treble could be regarded as our runners up prize all the same nowadays and for the foreseeable?

Johnno is right Europe is our goal to show how far we have grown but it will take a few games to get to grips with the higher level so give the bhoys a chance, also good piece uptop, rangers were only good in the 90s because off cheating, they have never been a dominant force it’s back to the norm in Scotland celtic and Aberdeen top 2
