Showing off his colours- Miovski on his Glasgow walkabout

Bojan Miovski took a stroll around Glasgow’s West End over the weekend after almost ending Celtic’s hopes of retaining the Scottish Cup.

At Hampden on Saturday the Macedonian was the main threat to Celtic, his goal after five minutes was the sort of strike that hoops fans have watched Kyogo Furuhashi score many times.

Leighton Clarkson slipped a perfectly weighted pass behind the Celtic defence, instinctively Miovski was onto it with his shot beating Joe Hart despite the keeper quickly quickly making up ground.

It was a jolt for Celtic and 40,000 fans but not the first time this season that Miovski has demonstrated his eye for goal against the hoops, in February he made life very uncomfortable for Maik Nawrocki as he opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie in the SPFL.

That goal came just after the closing of the January transfer window during which there had been speculation that Celtic were interested in the Aberdeen striker.

Nothing official came of the speculation but it would seem entirely logical for Celtic to be showing interest in a young international striker that is already a proven scorer in Scotland. After his goal against Celtic Miovski followed that up with one at Ibrox, the first of Neil Warnock’s brief and bizarre spell in charge of Aberdeen.

With his natty green jacket, white trousers and trainers it almost looks like Miovski was taking part in a photo shoot as he wandered around the strangely quiet cobbled streets around Ashton Lane.

Footballers looking to go undetected usually wear a baseball cap but Miovski opted for a set of shades as he soaked up the spring sunshine.

The West End has become a popular location for footballers with Ange Postecoglou appearing very happy off the park during his two year stay in that area of the city.

After the dismal transfer windows under Mark Lawwell the Celtic squad is expected to undergo major surgery during the summer with at least one striker likely to arrive.

Brendan Rodgers has virtually disposed of Oh Hyeon-gyu, since the arrival on loan of Adam Idah the Irishman has been vying with Kyogo for the starting place, without the goals of Idah the SPFL table would look very differently.

Whether Celtic can strike a deal to sign Idah on a permanent basis remains to be seen, coming from Aberdeen Miovski’s wage demands are likely to be significantly lower than someone who was playing in the EPL last season.

Aberdeen do have their star man secured on a long term contract but after two seasons at Pittodrie this summer might be the time to cash in and provide their incoming manager with the funds to freshen things up after a season of massive underachievement.
