Watch and enjoy the pain of Kris Boyd as Motherwell win at Ibrox

Kris Boyd was a picture of misery as he assessed Motherwell’s 3-2 win at Ibrox today.

The result leaves Danny Rohl’s side toiling five points behind Hearts with just four matches left to play. Next up for the skinny German is a trip to Tynecastle on May 4.

Boyd has been especially smug over the last few weeks as Rohl’s side won four matches on the bounce leading into the SPFL post split fixtures.

That came after back-to-back failures to beat Celtic at home.

The sort of results and performances that would concern a rational football pundit.

Not Boyd. He has been preparing his own title party. With Captain Disappointed walking away there was more incentive than ever to win a second SPFL title.

All was set up perfectly for Ibrox today.

Motherwell went to Ibrox on the back of taking just one point from their last five matches.

Hearts and Falkirk had won 3-1 and 3-2 against Jens Berthal Askou’s side.

On top of that Rohl had taken his side on a jolly to Marvella as reward for getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Celtic.

THE NEVER ENDING PAIN AND MISERY OF KRIS BOYD

While Martin O’Neill’s side faced St Mirren their Ibrox counterparts were enjoying some warm weather training and some team bonding sessions.

What could possibly go wrong Boyd thought as he settled in at Easter Road waiting on the good news coming in from Ibrox…

The action at Ibrox kicked off at 3pm. By 3.30pm Motherwell were leading 2-0. That remained the scoreline as Sky Sports began their coverage from Easter Road. Boyd’s worst nightmare was playing out. The messages were flowing from Chris Sutton as he prepared for his co-commentator role in the capital.

Finally there was some good news for the former Portland Timbers striker.

Two goals from Youssek Chermiti with 20 minutes left to play. What could possibly go wrong for Boyd. For added pleasure Hearts were trailing 1-0 to Hibs.

And then Boyd’s world turned upside down. That shrinking feeling.

Like when you run around the Sky Sports studio celebrating the signing of Aaron Ramsey only to end up watching him choke on a penalty at the Europa League Final.

GOAL FERNANDEZ- WRONG END!

In the 90th minute Manny Fernandez scored! In his own net, past Jack Butland.

Earlier in the week Fernandez was a £30m target for Arsenal.

Today his own goal was closing the door on a £30m pass straight into the Champions League.

And Boyd was suffering alongside John Robertson, Scott Allan and Eilidh Barbour. They all love wallowing in Boyd’s pain and misery.

Hearts fought back to win at Easter Road.

Boyd faked an interest in the outcome of the Edinburgh Derby. His heart was breaking, he knew the night he was facing, the misery of the coming week. That he’d be at Tynecastle next Monday surrounded by baying gloating Jambos.

And the greatest irony of it all?

If Rohl’s side get a draw or win away to Hearts it opens the doors to a fifth successive Celtic title party.

There’s not going to be much fun banter coming from Boyd in the week ahead as he contemplates two equally painful scenarios.

John Robertson’s laughter as Boyd analysed today’s defeat from Motherwell was only a taster of what could be round the corner.
