Everything is broken- Belfast Media nails it as Celtic collapses

Belfast Media Group, including The Andersonstown News, has again provided a brilliant summary of where Celtic stand today.

Two weeks ago the same source provided some welcome balance to the Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox and the post match propaganda.

Since that article appeared Celtic fans have been ‘treated’ to an in-house interview with Brian Unity Wilson.

After ignoring the attacks on players, staff and fans at Ibrox the interim Chairman revealed that the Safety Advosory Group of Glasgow City Council is responsible for the on-going suspension of the Green Brigade.

Wilson is a politician 24/7. Someone never to be trusted. If he lost his mobile phone you wouldn’t believe the version of events that he offered.

Last week the propaganda surrounding the Ibrox cup tie was cranked up with ‘leaked’ reports.

Wilson’s doormat interview allowed the narrative to be reshaped.

The pile on is underway. Well underway.

The Union Bears remain inside Ibrox. Encouraged.

No fan on the pitch has been identified, no banning orders issued. Attention switched to the post split Glasgow Derby with the Union Bears welcomed to Celtic Park.

The consequences of Michael Nicholson’s leadership. The ‘leading sports lawyer’ with the heart of a mouse.

There was some respite from a 3-1 win over Motherwell.

BELFAST MEDIA- AN OBJECTIVE VIEW ON CELTIC

At Tannadice on Sunday the focus switched from the boardroom freeloaders to the squad that they have constructed.

When you put Mark Lawwell and Paul Tisdale in charge of recruitment you are playing with fire.

When you are without the remnants of the Frank Trimboli transfer windows due to injury you end up losing 8 out of 31 matches in one of the worst UEFA leagues.

O'Neill, Celtic, Belfast

Doing the forensics of the defeat at Dundee United Belfast Media Group reports:

Last year not only were the season tickets increased across the board, the sale of Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah for almost £30 million in a record-breaking revenue year for the Hoops resulted in exactly  £14.5 million spent on a squad which was not only in desperate need of a refresh, but was hit with one of the worst injury periods in the club’s history with four key starters being sidelined for months at a time.

EMBARRASSING THE HOOPS

The Champions League exit was an embarrassing one and the lack of planning and panic buys – including free transfers of out of favour and unfit former Premier League stars – has caused this car crash of a season to get to this point.

Throw in the four different managerial spells, including the disastrous Wilfried Nancy experiment over the crunch Christmas period, and a January window that saw Celtic spend less than Partick Thistle and the mentality of the powers-that-be is there for all to see.

That discontent and subjecting their own fans to kettling and being treated like criminals have seen a divide and conquer approach to the season with the pride of the men in suits being held in higher esteem than the success of the football club.

How dare they turn their heads away from the fans on Sunday and pretend they don’t exist, how dare they sit in Celtic ties and claim to be in favour of the betterment of the club whilst they line their own pockets and look in disgust at their own!

How dare Dermot Desmond, who spends more time golfing in the US sunshine sipping champagne with Trump’s cronies, tell fans what they should think!

They get away with it because they live in a bubble where selling a St Patrick’s Day kit and cashing in on nostalgia is more important than current success and building towards the future.

The model is broken; the club is broken; the relationship with the fans is broken. The only thing not broken is the club cash reserves, which are hoarded while we are expected to live off past glories.

THERE IS NO SILVER LINING

Let’s end on a positive note: The international break is upon us and there’s a gap where some serious reflection and planning must take place. Celtic have seven games to turn this around. It is improbable – but it is far from impossible.

True. Not for the first time this season Celtic fans are taking in and enjoying every day of the break. That ends next Thursday as the build up begins to another trip to Dundee. Across the road at Dens Park.

Despite the multiple mistakes on and off the pitch Celtic could still finish the season as SPFL Premiership champions.

If they do it will say more about how bad the rest of the clubs are rather than the ‘quality’ of Celtic.

If Celtic finish second or third it will surprise no fan that has watched this current ‘campaign’ in the making.

The club certainly know how to keep their legacy media partners sweet with content that avoids the real questions and issues.

Fortunately fan media and outlets like Belfast Media Group can provide independent analysis and coverage- calling out those driving the self sabotage at every level.

I have 3 season tickets in the main stand which cost £2300 before the increase this year and to be honest I never thought I would say this but I dont want to renew with the board we have at the moment. They will want our season ticket money before the end of the season and there is no assurances that the new manager will be given funds to rebuild the squad
