Brendan Rodgers dismissed the mythical Ibrox trophy count during his media conference ahead of the League Cup Final.
John McGarry of the Daily Mail decided to raise the question with the Celtic boss struggling to keep a straight face as he replied.
According to those in legacy media the two clubs from Ibrox are actually one with the myth promoted that the club founded by Charles Green in 2012 is actually the most successful in the world.
Three trophies in 12 years is a decent return for a new club, on a par with St Johnstone but hardly the sort of target that will motivate Rodgers and Celtic at Hampden on Sunday.
As every fan outside of Ibrox knows Rangers went into administration in 2012, when they refused to make a credible offer to the 276 firms that they owed money to they were put into liquidation.
Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs were owed the most due to non-payment of Income Tax and National Insurance, when Queen Elizabeth refused the offer the liquidation process begun.
Among those that took advantage of that were star players Allan McGregor, Kyle Lafferty, Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker who moved to new clubs as free agents.
After initially reporting the matter factually Scottish media outlets realised the impact of losing the O** F*** would have on business, they watered down liquidation to financial meltdown and even relegation rather than face upto the truth.
To comfort the Rangers support they pushed the myth that the new club was not only the old club but was actually the Most Successful Club in the World.
All of those League Cups won with ineligible players apparently knocked the European Cups won by Real Madrid into the shade.
Soon the myth was being painted on the walls at Murray Park then on the club shop at Ibrox, new signings are obliged to make reference to it.
While legacy media and Scottish football doubles down those outside the bubble laugh at the extent they go to covering up the reality of 2012.

RODGERS:
Not really, not for me, its about the game, its about winning the trophy. We just, we want to win as many trophies as we can.
Breaking towards a laugh but holding back he added:
We don’t necessarily have to tell everyone………… but we just want to win and to win well and then hopefully get into out next game and look to the next trophy.
It remains to be seen whether a similar question will be put to Phil Clement at Ibrox later today.
With Celtic strong favourites to win at Hampden very little has been heard about the prospect of Scotland’s most successful club winning their 119th trophy.
Since Rodgers first joined Celtic in 2016 the hoops have won 19 of the 24 domestic trophies competed for.
The SFA has appointed John Beaton to referee the match with Alan Muir on VAR.
