Marvin Bartley has spilled the beans on the unrest inside the Ibrox dressing room as the club prepares the way for Phil Clement to quit the club.
Only the lack of a Chairman and CEO has kept the Belgian Beale in a job with the imminent departure of Director of Football Creag Robertson adding to the chaos.
Binning Clement looks like being very costly with a contract running until May 2028 but as Mark Warburton discovered seven years ago there are some very c creative minds at Ibrox capable of getting rid of onerous contracts.
While it would no doubt be costly to change manager for fourth successive autumn it is getting to the stage of being expensive to keep Clement in place trotting out excuses to upset fans before and after every match.
There seems little personal warmth between the players and their current manager with the treatment dished out recently to Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi by A Proper Football Manager not going down well with their team-mates.
Popular managers rarely win honours but there has to be a respect among the players if results are to be delivered.
Although James Tavernier is the only player with more than three years on his Ibrox career there is a culture of players outlasting managers with Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and others from that vintage going through the motions as they prepare to work under their fourth manager while hanging on to lucrative contracts.
At first glance the obvious question is Who does Bartley know inside the Ibrox dressing room? but the worlds of Scottish football and media are very small and overlap at every turn.
Bartley’s partner is Eilidh Barbour who presents Scottish football on Sky Sports, Kris Boyd is their star performer with a variety of friends on the payroll at Ibrox including Alex Rae.
This time next week Rae could be getting used to a new blazer and brogues ahead of facing the media to preview the League Cup semi-final against Motherwell at Hampden.
Listening to SSB last night The Sun reports Bartley saying:
I think there is a big couple of weeks (for Rangers). Obviously he was given the new contract and I will be honest I was in agreement with it.
From what I was hearing coming out of the dressing room there were one or two players who had the mentality of that I will outlast the manager.
I’ve been in dressing rooms before and it is very difficult for a manager to turn around if players think that is a possibility but they need to do more. Regardless of anything or what is going on behind the scenes.
I think somebody was saying Rangers have spent north of £15million on transfers this season. They should not be losing to Kilmarnock. That is not me being disrespectful that should not happen.
Sometimes on phone-ins and podcasts too much information is disclosed, Bartley does have a little history.
Earlier this season when Ibrox was closed he predicted that it would reopen for the League Cup tie against Dundee with the top tier of the Copland Road Stand closed. That is what happened.
The dissenters inside Ibrox are likely to get their wish next Wednesday, defeat at Aberdeen will force the Ibrox board into action with Clement left to negotiate the terms of his exit.
