Chris Sutton makes big hearted Huddle appeal for Barry Ferguson

After reading Barry Ferguson’s blockbuster column in the Daily Record Chris Sutton has appealed to Celtic fans to cut out the Huddle that caused the former Clyde manager some distress on Sunday.

Suited and booted rather than in his usual staunch tracky, club Ambassador Ferguson was on the invite list for a front row seat at the Glasgow Derby alongside the investors that have sunk millions into making the 2012 Tribute Act competitive in a two horse race.

Soon after Celtic went 3-0 up 99.8% of the stadium celebrated in trademark fashion as they turned their backs on the action, linked arms shoulder to shoulder to celebrate a pivotal victory as a crushing blow was delivered to the latest Revolution coming out of Ibrox.

Ferguson and his suited friends sat in staunch silence waiting for the moment to pass, the final whistle to blow and the chance to disappear into the bowels of the stadium.

High above Ferguson in the Sky Sports Commentary Box Sutton was loving it with Neil McCann by his side trying to fake enthusiasm with Kris Boyd stewing in the studio behind Kasper Schmeichel’s goal.

Ferguson’s role as an Ambassador gives the current Ibrox regime direct access to Go Radio and the Daily Record to sweeten up the bears against bad news.

Derek Johnstone and others fulfilled the role of messenger in the past, praising whatever regime is in power and defending the failings of the manager up until the moment that he is sacked.

Alex Rae looks to be in pole position to step in as caretaker manager, with Ferguson in the background a Dream Team could quickly be put together that will satisfy the basic demands of the fans to see effort from the players on the park.

The difficult aspect is that none of the current players have the slightest connection with the club or supporters, after witnessing the treatment of James Tavernier back at Ibrox the players know how toxic and frustrated the fans are.

Sutton will happily brush aside whatever Ferguson throws back in his direction- while counting down the hours till he shares the Sky Sports studio with Boyd when Clement takes his circus to Tannadice on September 15.
