Obsessed Clement has Celtic in mind ahead of Kiev

The day before playing Dinamo Kiev in a critical Champions League qualifier Phil Clement is discussing Celtic.

After five months of drooling over A Proper Football Manager a 3-3 draw claimed as a moral victory seems to have kicked off the process of turning Mister Clement into the Belgian Beale.

Bizarre comments and claims have become the norm with three defeats to Celtic forcing many of the Gullible & Deluded to question what direction their manager is heading in. Holding onto xG stats isn’t the best of ideas.

On Saturday Clement’s side won for the first time in three matches this season, the record book shows just seven wins in their last 18 matches with last season’s squad wilting when the pressure was applied.

From the sidelines the former Monaco boss had nothing to offer as Motherwell, Ross County and Dundee earned points that confirmed to loyal bears that the core of their squad are serial losers.

After promising a summer Revolution! Connor Barron was the only new signing to start last week’s 1-1 draw away to Dinamo Kiev. James Tavernier, John Souttar, Tom Lawrence and Scott Wright were still on the team-sheet.

A stoppage time equaliser from Cyriel Dessers earned a draw against Kiev with that goal greeted with delight, apparently turning the tide of negativity against Clement and his barely started Revolution!

BBC Scotland will show Tuesday’s match from Hampden, giving them access to the inner thoughts of Clement as he nervously talked too much, stopping just short of badge kissing.

I love it here that is why I wanted to stay longer and really engage myself in the long term project with the club because I love the city, I love the fans, the atmosphere how everybody lives football here in Scotland.

The European nights, the battle with Celtic to become champions, winning trophies. No, I’m really happy here and I want everybody to see that my team is really happy and determined to win much more trophies.

Much as he enjoys reading from the well worn script enjoyed by Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the current manager should be aware that neither of his successors got beyond 12 months in charge of the 2012 Tribute Act.

Until he has been in charge of a real win over Celtic Clement really should avoid mentioning Scotland’s most successful team, on September 1 he’ll get his fifth match against the hoops, if that one ends in defeat he might want to change his scriptwriter and check the small print on his newly etended contract.
