Celtic B team skipper Mackenzie Carse is about to join Queens Park on loan until the end of the season.
The midfielder is in the middle of his third season playing in the Lowland League which is probably one too many but from the weekend he will be pitched into the real world of Championship football away to Dunfermline on Saturday.
Ben McPherson has already started in 12 Championship matches for Queens Park who appointed Callum Davidson as manager with the former St Johnstone boss getting off to a winning start away to Raith Rovers at the weekend.
Tonight Football Scotland reports:
Mackenzie Carse is set to join Queen’s Park on loan until the end of the season.
The Celtic midfielder, 19, will join up with Callum Davidson’s squad at The City Stadium after a decision was made by both clubs to green-light the move. Carse has made 18 appearances for the Hoops’ B team in the Lowland League and scored seven from the centre of their engine room but Football Scotland understands Celtic want their player playing at a higher level and Davidson is the man to help take his game forward.
Finding the right club to go out on loan to can be a minefield but there seems to be a relationship brewing between Celtic and Queens Park where Tommy McIntyre is on the coaching staff.
The training facilities and set up at Lesser Hampden is probably among the top half dozen in the country with Steve Clarke switching Scotland training from the Oriam Campus in Edinburgh to use Lesser Hampden.
Going to a club in mid-season adds extra difficulty but Carse and McPherson know that they have to be stand outs if they are to return to Celtic in the summer closer to the first team squad.
After playing in the UEFA Youth League the Celtic B squad only have Lowland League fixtures to play in alongside a couple of games down south in the u-21 Premier League International Cup.
