Anthony Joseph believes that Celtic are in a strong position over interest in Matt O’Riley.
This evening Sky Sports broke the new of serious interest coming in from Girona but their own Celtic specialist doesn’t think that a departure is imminent.
With just under a fortnight still to run in the January window there is plenty of time for bids to be made for probably the outstanding player in Scottish football so far this season.
While others like Kyogo Furuhashi, Greg Taylor and Joe Hart have struggled to match the standards set last season O’Riley has taken his game to a new level with a return of 10 goals from 21 appearances in the SPFL.
LaLiga leaders Girona have joined the list of clubs interested in Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.
Brendan Rodgers sees him as a key player and – after he signed a new bumper contract – Celtic are in a strong position.

O’Riley renewed his Celtic contract at the end of September but there could be various elements to his deal, two years ago Celtic took advantage of a £1.5m get out clause to sign the midfielder from MK Dons.
After more than a decade at Fulham O’Riley rejected the offer of a new deal at Craven Cottage, taking a step down to League One to get the first team action that his career required.
That decision has ultimately led to a key role in Celtic winning a treble, two Champions League campaigns and a full cap for Denmark.
Demonstrating his families desire for success, O’Riley’s parents both moved to Glasgow to provide support when he made the switch from MK Dons.
At the age of 23 the midfielder probably has his career in exactly the position that he would like, Celtic fans will be hoping that for at least the next few months he is playing in front of them as Brendan Rodgers looks to retain the SPFL title with the campaign resuming on January 27 at home to Ross County.
