Yesterday James Tavernier got to switch away from his traditional bitterly disappointed post match script that is known and loved by Celtic fans.
Eight years at Ibrox watching Celtic win five trebles has made him immune to success on the other side of the city as he collects another season of salary, hard luck stories and near misses.
Yesterday Tav was wheeled out to give his thoughts on the Philippe Clement Revolution!- just 10 months after he had been welcoming back Mick Beale as gaffer.
Last December the former Wigan utility man sounded like a kid on Christmas Eve as he discussed the appointment of Beale, going as far as to say ‘So it is new faces, new tactics and a new start for the team’.
Thankfully it has been same old Tav, with three of the next four SPFL Glasgow Derbies being played at Celtic Park the new gaffer faces an even tougher task than the Brains Behind Gerrard.
On 15 December 2022 Glasgow Live reported Tav saying:
He will enjoy it more. It is his ship now. He can do what he wants to the team, it is his philosophy. It is an absolute joy working under him again and I think he is going to make the team stronger.
It’s never nice to see a manager lose their job but there is a fresh face in the camp, obviously a new face to quite a few and an old face to the others.
But it is great to see the gaffer back in the building and we have all really enjoyed working with him. So it is new faces, new tactics and a new start for the team. We have to push on.
Yesterday it was as if Beale had been completely air-brushed as Tavernier gushed:
It has been really good, really positive. Obviously we’ve had a lot of international boys away but they have recently joined us . It’s been really positive, the young lads have filled their spots for the group in training and it’s been good.
It is still obviously early stages and he is onviously still trying to put his identity in the team and we are slowly going to be working on that every single day. You will see that.
It is obviously refreshing and it is good to see a different aspect of how to play football again. Yeah, we are all really tuned into the way that he what he wants and we just have got to implement it as quick as possible.
