‘Gives his team no chance’ ‘Terrible signing’ Ibrox media guru turns on Dessers while spinning ‘excellent game in Prague’

Jonny McFarlane was a confused man last night as he watched the dross served up by Sparta Prague and the Ibrox Tribute Act in the Europa League.

Coming after the Celtic v Atletico Madrid match the drop in quality was impossible to miss, like comparing Barrie McKay to Kieran Tierney.

Despite being clueless about football McFarlane is the Head of Digital Sport at Newsquest which produces the Herald, Glasgow Times, Rangers Review and the Celtic Way.

Trying to spin the ‘action’ from Prague into a classic night of entertainment is quite a stretch but he did drop in one truth-bomb about Cyriel Dessers.

Since June the bears on Rangers Review have been producing the stats and contacting former team-mates and coaches to explain what a wonderful strikers Dessers is despite the horrendous statistics and getting passed from club to club every season.

Last night’s draw has emulated Philippe Clement to Walter Smith status in The Sun, the new manager bounce is likely to continue with a trip to Dundee sandwiched between matches against Hearts over the next 10 days.

After the November international break it all gets real for the second Ibrox Revolution of the season with Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, Real Betis and Motherwell to be faced before the December 30 trip to Celtic Park.
