Explaining it all the Record has uncovered:
And La Gazzetta dello Sport, in reporting on the saga, say that Santos are eyeing Morelos as a potential player to fill the void when the striker leave. The transfer window in Brazil has closed but they can sign free agents, making Morelos a viable option. And in a further twist to the transfer tale they add that Neymar’s imminent £69m move from Paris-Saint Germain to Al-Hilal could provide the cash with Santos, where the Brazilian superstar started his career before moving to Barcelona, due to a solidarity payment of around £3m they are set to receive.
It would be quite an achievement for Santos to be getting a 10% cut on a transfer fee as PSG suffer a £130 hit on the striker that they signed from Barcelona in 2017.
Morelos transfer tales have been a fantastic source of clicks for the Record down the years, almost in line with the crash in their already low credibility.
From January 2018, six months after his signing from HJK Helsinki, when they championed the move to a mysterious Chinese club the Record has been on the case for a transfer, ideally for Dembele Dollars.
All sorts of weird and wonderful scenarios have been painted with virtually no substance. Clubs across Europe have been keeping tabs on the Colombian without quite getting to the stage of making an offer.
Galatasaray, Sevilla and Porto have been the clubs most regularly linked with £20m bids for Morelos, now available as a free agent there isn’t a sniff of interest in the former Ibrox ace.
